The internet needs a dialing code..
It seems to me that ITSP's like to use a US dialing code eg 1-xxx Wouldn't it be cool to have an Internet dialing code?? I don't know what the structures are or how the allocations work but it would be so cool to know that 1-xxx was USA , 44-xxx was UK and yy-xxx was an internet phone.. That way the whole internet phone space could be consolidated into a single dialing structure

Errors on install...
Hi all, I found the web site for R and decided to install it on my freebsd system; however, I have run into 'permission problems' during execution. I do the standard .configure, make, make check, make install and install into the default location of /usr/local/... but when a normal user attempts to run 'R' I get the following: --- [tulip ~]% R R : Copyright 2001, The R

Unfortunately, a compressed file system for Linuthere does not seem to exist yet. However, rsync can use compression for file transfer. Would it be possible to implement an option to store the data on the

Route optimization.
Is there prior work or examples on setting up a router to perform route optimization for customers (such as using traceroute, etc.)? I recently came across a vendor that has implemented a Cisco appliance that does this . . . it watches customer traffic and then sets about trying to optimize the route the customer''s traffic takes. Is this a known bug? Here is the full rsync command: rsync -e ssh -abvv --delete --exclude lost+found/ --exclude core --exclude *.o --exclude .netscape/cache --max-delete=250 --backup-dir=/some/path

how to force llvm generate gather intrinsic
That makes great sense. It would be great if we have profitability mode to see the necessity to use gathers. Or it also would be good if there is a compiler option for the users to enable LLVM to generate the gather instructions no matter it is faster or slow. how to force llvm generate gather intrinsic
If I'm understanding correctly, you're saying that vgather* is slow on all of Excavator, Haswell, Broadwell, and Skylake (client). Therefore, we will not generate it for any of those machines. Even if that's true, we should not define "gatherIsSlow()" as "hasAVX2() && !hasAVX512()". It could break for some hypothetical future processor that manages to
