SSH2 PATH problem
Hello,
I have the following behaviour with openssh-2.3.0p1
# ssh host 'echo $PATH' (SSH1 protocol, works fine)
/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/ucb:/usr/opt/SUNWmd/sbin
# ssh -2 host 'echo $PATH' (force SSH2 protocol, PATH env var is not
set)
<nothing>
I can't execute a remote command with the SSH2 protocol.
Any clue?

openssh 2.9p1 on Solaris 2.6 with AFS
hello,
I'm attempting to compile 2.9p1 on Solaris 2.6 with AFS support.
I am not using Kerberos aside from AFS. The installation notes state
that Kerberos IV is required by AFS. Since the Kerberos libraries and
header files do not appear to be distributed with AFS, I downloaded and
installed ftp://ftp.pdc.kth.se/pub/krb/src/krb4-1.0.8.tar.gz
./configure --sysconfdir=/etc/ssh

We are having problems with SSH shells disconnecting.
We are replacing a older version of SSH (Non-Comercial Version which some
one installed in error, but it was working fine.) & Had been running

Rsync 3.0.5 sometimes hangs copying local disk to other local disk (Solaris 9)
I hope I'm sending this report to the right place.
I recently upgraded the rsync binaries in a bunch of our Solaris 9
systems from rsync 2.6.9 to rsync 3.0.5 . I have a script that runs in
each machine that syncs the file systems from an active drive to a
backup drive. Wihtin 3 days, this script had hung in two of the ~20
hosts that I had updated with the new rsync. Those two hosts

Samba 3.0.2a problems on Solaris 8
Tried to upgrade our Samba 2.2.8a domain controller (Solaris 8) to Samba
3.0.2a. Compiled using gcc 3.3.2, linked to libiconv-1.8, popt-1.7 and
cups-1.1.20.
I shut down the Samba 2.2.8a. Removed everything in var/locks. Did a
"make install" to install 3.0.2a, then restarted Samba. My smb.conf is
basically the same as 2.2.8a with "domain admin group" removed.

HTML5 to SQL under CentOS
Several years ago I wrote a simple, short, HTML/PHP program on my CentOS
server
for adding items to a MySQL/MariaDB database on the server from my Fedora
laptop.
Recently I thought I would try to be up-to-date
and re-write the program using HTML5 Forms,
which seemed the proper thing to do,
but I'm finding this surprisingly difficult.
Does anyone have, or can point me to,
a simple HTML5

smbd process grows to 25Mb resident size
Hi,
I've 4 Samba servers running 3.0.21c in solaris 10 zones. One PDC,
3 BDCs.
The machines are identically installed and the samba binaries and
associated libraries
are copied between the machines so are also identical.
On my PDC which seems to be accepting almost all of the clients, my smbd
processes
are 33M with 25M resident. This seems to be used by dev:32,0 ino301938

Trying to join a Solaris 8 box to Windows 2000 AD.
I am having major problems with SAMBA samba-3.0alpha20 in trying to connect

Windows 2000 AD. I have attached info if that helps. Any help you can give
me
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Clive Elsum
I can get samba-3.0alpha20 working if I include reference to our NT PDC
in the smb.conf file and do a net rpc join command.
This joins our NT PDC domain which has a trust

Am I being to paranoid?
Hi All,
I want to know thoughts on if I am being to paranoid/security conscious.
CentOS 5.6, Apache, MySQL, running an Firewall in front of everything and obviously the built-in firewall on the box. I have ssh on a different port and starting to use Keys instead of password authentication. I host an intensive website and I am getting about 150 unique visitors per day.
What I am seeing is
