The --inplace is very different from the behaviour of --partial when resuming a complex case transfer.
Hi all, >From the manpage of rsync, I can see the following descriptions: --inplace The option implies --partial (since an interrupted transfer does not delete the file) So I do the following testings on the `--inplace' and `--partial' for resuming a file with the following steps: 1- rsync ftp.cn.debian.org::debian/dists/wheezy/main/binary-amd64/

Issue with bwlimit after resuming a partial transfer due to a communication break
I am using rsync version 3.0.7. My rsync server is running on the cloud. I have set the bwlimit to 10 i.e. 10 KBps. When I try to sync files the bwlimit is as what is set. I have enabled storage of partial files. When a communication break causes rsync to time out during a transfer the partial file is stored in the partial directory. I then try rsync again when the link is up. At this point I see

Partial transferred files useless at resume, compare-dir can help ?
So, my use case is : 1. lot of connections over dial-up lines 2. need to transfer safely A SINGLE BZIPPED FILE to the server 3. if dial-up line fails, it's automatically restarted after 5 minutes and transfer start again I heard about the --partial option in order to keep the partial transferred file. I thought that rsync will apply his incremental check and update alghoritm on that

Keeping a complete CentOS mirror
Is there a way I can keep a complete mirror of old/new releases of CentOS 4/5 automagically? In other words I would pull the old files from the vault site when needed, and new files from one of the other mirrors. I've seen/used a few scripts but rsync just stomps the old releases with the latest. The key issue here is having new release detection happen programmatically so I don't need to

Dovecot 1.2, problem with SQL quota and mail aliases
Hello, I have a small server running dovecot 1.2 (still not balsy enough to switch to 2.0 - virtual sql accounts, managesieve etc.). There are no local users - only ones defined in the SQL database, and everything else (including quota) is defined in SQL db too. Dovecot is used as IMAP daemon, and dovecot-lda is responsible for delivery (in order to make use of sieve and managesieve). I know

Want feedback on Mongrel patch for handling partial PUT requests
By default, Mongrel will delete the HTTP request body and short circuit calling any handlers if a request is interrupted or incomplete. Unfortunately, this breaks any attempt to correctly handle a partial PUT. (BTW, PUT is *way* more efficient for uploads compared to POST which requires a MIME parsing step.) So, about a month ago I wrote up some patches to Mongrel 0.3.18 that allowed

does partial option work over ssh?
Dear All, I am hoping that someone might be able to help me here. I have been trying to use rsync to pick up a half-finished file copy and continue from that point, rather than restarting, but can't seem to get it right. Running rsync 2.6.7 and OpenSSH_3.6.1p2 on RHEL3; pc-87 (see below) is rsync 2.6.3 and (OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003) on RHEL4. This is what I believe SHOULD

[PATCH v2 24/27] drm/amdgpu/dm: Resume short HPD IRQs before resuming MST topology
Since we're going to be reprobing the entire topology state on resume now using sideband transactions, we need to ensure that we actually have short HPD irqs enabled before calling drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_resume(). So, do that. Cc: Juston Li <juston.li at intel.com> Cc: Imre Deak <imre.deak at intel.com> Cc: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala at linux.intel.com> Cc: Harry Wentland

Partial Transfer Problem
I am using the command options listed below. If I set --partial or --partial-dir, I see the partial file appear as expected. However, even with --partial-dir set as you see below, the .rsync-partial directory is never created. Instead the partial file just appears in the directory. The bigger problem is that if I interrupt the transfer and then restart it some time later, rsync just creates a
