Initial release of PerlRsync (perl rsync client)
I have just released the first version 0.10 of File::RsyncP to SourceForge. See: http://perlrsync.sourceforge.net File::RsyncP is a perl implementation of an Rsync client. It is compatible with Rsync 2.5.5 (protocol version 26). It can send or receive files, either by running rsync on the remote machine, or connecting to an rsyncd deamon on the remote machine. What use is File::RsyncP?

ubuntu package installs
hello puppet list My puppet server is now working quite wonderfully. Thanks go out to all who have assisted in getting it to this point. At this point in time my config is now correctly installing packages according to arch,os and release. Centos is working quite well as of now, but I am attempting to get the ubuntu side of things to work as well. I am frankly more familiar with RHEL under

Is Amanda "vaulting" what I need for archiving data?
Hi folks, I've got a bit of a different scenario than I imagine most, and have spent the last 60 or 90 minutes searching Amanda list archives and googling, but did not come up with anything much. Then I went browsing around the Amanda website and found "vaulting" and was wondering whether this would suit my needs. I'm basically searching around for a backup solution and

Running libvirtd outside of a shell results in qemu defunct processes
Hi, In KubeVirt we are right now starting libvirt via a wrapper shell script. I want to remove that wrapper and directly start libvirtd from our golang code. This means that our golang code is PID 1 in the container and we start libvirtd as a fork from there. When I did this, strange things started to happen. Libvirt was still able to start and manage qemu processes, but stopping the qemu

asterisk and defunct perl procs
Trying to figure out why I'm having all of my test (and demo) perl script in a defunct status. Each run creates a problem: ps output root 26253 1356 0 16:39 pts/1 00:00:00 asterisk -vvvc root 26270 26253 0 16:40 pts/1 00:00:00 [pj.pl <defunct>] root 26271 26253 0 16:40 pts/1 00:00:00 [pj.pl <defunct>] root 26273 26253 0 16:40 pts/1 00:00:00 [pj.pl

How many imap processes per user
Hi, I'm using dovecot for the first time on a production server (before dovecot I used bincimapd). I have a question about the number of imap (not imap-login) processes created for a user. I've seen 100+ processes for just 1 user. So far it only occurs for 1 user, other users have just 1 imap process. I now the user is using thunderbird and 2 mailclients are logged in at the

A lot of zombie processes on Debian 9
Hello, I've compiled Samba 4.7 from repository using a Debian 9 machine and I've noticed that the system started to create zombie processes of samba: # ps aux |grep "Z" USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 502 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? A lot of zombie processes on Debian 9
Can you try with this systemd unit file. Restarting does not close all prosesses with that one. ( you need : ExecReload=/bin/kill -HUP $MAINPID ) Jessie used probely sysv and not systemd, which should explain why there are so many zombies. [Unit] Description=Samba AD Daemon Documentation=man:samba(8) man:samba(7) man:smb.conf(5) After=network.target [Service] Type=notify NotifyAccess=all

BackupPC 2.0.0beta0 released - now supports rsync
I just released version 2.0.0beta0 of BackupPC on SourceForge, see http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/ What is BackupPC? It is an enterprise-grade open-source package for backing up WinXX and *nix systems to disk. It supports transport via SMB, tar and now rsync over rsh/ssh and rsyncd. The backend features hard-linking of any identical files (not just files with the same name) and

rsync perl/binding (python) and libraries
Hi, First I am new on the list, and I think this topic has been allready in past. I am looking rsync with the idea to create perl-Binding for rsync. I saw in the TODO list python binding has been plan in past too. The current rsync code make this hard as rsync does not provide library itself. Of course there is allready librsync for a lib, File::RsyncP as perl binding, but this last one is a

Kernel oops on the dom0
Hi All, One of our developers managed to trigger a kernel oops on a 4.4.2 dom0.. Oops text is attached. He was working on setting up network namespaces / bridging inside a centos domU, had activated the bridge and lost networking (probably config error) so he rebooted the VM. On reboot is when we saw the oops, along with various xen procs hanging: root 23388 0.0 1.6 132796 32264 ?

defunct netstat processes
I am running samba 3.0.23 with winbind joined to a windows 2003 AD domain. Over time, I've noticed that winbindd shows forked zombied netstat processes, and over time, they continue to build up. Right now, there are hundreds of zombied netstat processes forked from winbindd shown by ps afx. Any ideas of what could cause this? Server role: ROLE_DOMAIN_MEMBER Press enter to see a dump
