Logwatch reporting spamassassin messages as unmatched entries
I've recently switched to using spamassassin via a sendmail milter, rather than using procmail to invoke it. This means that I get a number of messages appearing in my maillog, and then being reported by logwatch as unmatched entries. An example of such a messages is: Feb 27 04:33:09 quail sendmail[24780]: p1R4X46P024780[2]: URIBL blacklist\n\t* [URIs: tablettoxicspillsrx.ru]\n\t* 1.5

r-project.org address blacklisted by anti-spam software
Dear List: An e-mail mentioning the r-project.org address and sent to a friend at a German university was considered spam by the local spam filter. Its reasoning: the URL "r-project.org" is blacklisted at uribl.swinog.ch resp. at antispam.imp.ch. I checked the list http://antispam.imp.ch/swinog-uri-rbl.txt [caution: long list] and indeed, there it was. Can anybody explain how or

compiling rsync on OSX
Are there any known issues compiling the latest rsync on OSX (10.4)? I've noticed some references to one or two patches, but I'm not sure what they are. I compiled v2.6.8 some time back on a powerpc, with no patches, and it seemed to work OK. I saw nothing in the INSTALL file that suggests a patch is necessary. Thanks for any pointers. -- Victor

Rsync dies with "Invalid file index:" error message
Hi all, i'm having a rather strange problem with rsync (v2.6.8). Rsync is run to synchronize two identical, rather old Solaris 2.6 servers. All filesystems rsync fine except for one. Rsync bails out on this particular FS with the following messages: # /var/tmp/bin/rsync -avz -e "ssh -i $keyfile" --exclude-from=/tmp/rsync_data.excl server:/data/ /data receiving file list ... done ./

not all files copied
Hi, I'm using rsync to copy and sync a directory of about 25,000 files across two machines. I used rsync to make an initial copy, from machine 1 to machine 2, and then syncing back incremental changes from machine 2 to machine 1. On the initial copy from machione 1 to machine 2, I found that a number of files failed to copy, but that they were copied on a second try. There were no warnings

Followup to "pxe weirdness" in syslinux archives
I'm running across the same weirdness mentioned in the "pxe weirdness" thread in the archives: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2003-July/002229.html I couldn't find any followups to the issue. Was it a misconfiguration error? My setup is similar to James': I'm attempting to do a PXE install using DHCP sent via dhcrelay. I get the right IP, netmask, etc. but get

Apache 2.2.3 ETag weirdness.
I'm looking to clarify this entry I found in a changelog(line 2062ish) on a CentOS 5 box for Apache 2.2.3 *) mod_include no longer allows an ETag header on 304 responses. PR 19355. [Geoffrey Young <geoff apache.org>, Andr? Malo] Loading the mod_include module prevents any ETags headers from being sent from the box. If I comment out mod_include, ETags are sent as expected.

Weirdness and Questions...
version 1.0.7 OK, so here is my weirdness. I sent mail to the server from the command line. mail username at localhost < /etc/passwd When I open /var/spool/mail/username I can see 2 messages. The "system" message at the top and the the message produced from my command line email. If I HUP the process that runs xinet.d and re-open the users mail spool the 2nd email

Win2k(IIS5) + Samba weirdness
Hi all; I don't know if this is a specificly a Samba problem, so appologies if this is a little OT. Anyhow, I have a Windows 2000 Server (SP2) running IIS5 hosting a number of web sites. The content itself is housed on a RH 7.1 Linux box running Samba 2.2.2, which Windows mounts. Now, occasionly when going anywhere beneath the root of a web site IIS reports a 404 error (NTFileMon

rsync performance weirdness
hi, i observe some weirdness in rsync file transfer i cannot explain. i'm transferring data from 2 freenas storages to a linux vm with zfsonlinux. "fnask" is older freenas with rsync 3.1.1 running in daemon mode, freenas-bnkw is more recent with rsync 3.1.2, also daemon-mode. on the linux vm where the data is being pulled from the 2 freenas boxes, i look onto io bandwidth being

CPU Utilization Weirdness
Did some more experimenting last night. When I changed icecast and ices back to 'daemon mode' they lasted for about 5 songs, before tanking. I then tried combinations of icecast as a daemon and ices not, and vice versa - same results. Even recompiled without any mods to icecast. The only thing that seems to work is starting the processes and piping them to null. The only disadvantage to

CPU Utilization Weirdness
Made the change and so far so good, CPU is back where it should be. Running 2 streams at 56K 22Hz is using about 5% CPU total - most respectable I think. I have only been running this config for about 10 minutes, but so far so good. Will post follow up tomorrow. Thanks Jack - question tho: isn't using console mode 3 the same as using -b (from the description in the conf file anyway) or it is

more Matrix weirdness
Abby, my answer was too concise. The thrust is that even if you define a method for "[<-" with signature x="matrix" and value ="Matrix", for example, it will never be used since "matrix" is S3. If instead x="someS4class" then the S4 method will be invoked. There may be cases when changing the class of the left-hand side make sense (such as

max.col weirdness
Hi, I think there's some rounding issue with returning the max column. (running 2.9.0 on an Apple, but my buddy found it on his PC) > x <- matrix(c(1234.568,1234.569,1234.567),1) > max.col(x) [1] 2 > x <- matrix(c(12345.568,12345.569,12345.567),1) > max.col(x) [1] 3 > x <- matrix(c(112345.568,112345.569,112345.567),1) > max.col(x) [1] 3 > max.col(-x) [1]

more Matrix weirdness

I'm sorry Martin, but I don't understand your point here. I'm assuming that you want the (S3) matrix, x, to be converted to an (S4) Matrix. However, this is not a

first_run timezone weirdness
If you''re in a timezone with an abbreviation that map to more than one timezone (eg, CST), first_run may not work as you expect it to. Witness: $ irb -r time irb(main):001:0> Time.now => Wed Oct 04 20:37:24 CST 2006 irb(main):002:0> Time.parse(Time.now.to_s) => Thu Oct 05 10:37:30 CST 2006 Notice the 14 extra hours... Time.parse converted the time thinking CST meant -06:00

redirect_to weirdness?
In my rails app I issue a redirect_to "http://www.otherdomain.com/getinfo.php" to invoke a php script that will in turn ultimately send control back to my rails app with some information. However I am noticing that getinfo.php seems to be cached or something. It returns the same stale result time and again unless I manuall tell my browser to refresh the page and enter it manually.

validates_acceptance_of weirdness
On my registration form I have a checkbox for a waiver. In the model I have the statement: validates_acceptance_of :waiver, :on => :create, :message => "must be accepted" In the view: <%= check_box_tag("waiver") %> <%= error_message_on "user", "waiver", "Waiver "%> For some reason validate is accepting everything when the
