Bug#477931: rsync: Segfaults syncing the linux kernel archive.
Hi Wayne,
I just got this bug report about rsync 3.0.2 reproducibly crashing,
together with a backtrace and a patch; very helpful :-)
(Please preserve 477931-forwarded@bugs.debian.org in the CC so that you
response is archived in the Debian BTS, thanks.)

Factor level coloring in trellis plot
Hi :)
Was just wondering whether someone could help me with
adjustments to trellis plots (parallel).
I've got two way multivariate data. I want to make
parallel plots for one of the factors, and want to color
the lines according to the other factor. The first thing I
manage, but with the other I'm lost :( Can only change the
overall color.
This is basically how far I get:

Re: coding factor replicates
How about this. Its not as 'swish' as Doug's response, but it might be a
little simpler to think about and adapt...

Security + Rails =Joke?

http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8371
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-3227
I came across the above by accident. While I am subscribed to the so
called rails security list where supposed announcement of security
issues were to be posted, neither of the above problem made the list.
While I use rails a lot and like it, the above

hardlinks not working with inode number > 2^31
I've been using 3.0.0pre8 to move a Debian archive from one filesystem
to another. This archive contains a daily snapshot of the Debian ftp
site, with common files hardlinked to save space.
I noticed that it was using far more space than necessary. Upon
investigation it seems that all the source files that have inode numbers
greater than 2^31 aren't being hardlinked together at the

large rsync fails with assertion error
Ok I found a bug about this:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6542
and it says fixed by upgrade. I found a way to upgrade. Using:
rsync version 3.1.1 protocol version 31
on receiving side that issues the rsync command, and
rsync version 3.1.1 protocol version 31
on the remote sending side.
Im still getting the same thing:
rsync: hlink.c:126: match_gnums: Assertion `gnum >=

Time to kick phyper's tires...
The current version has very serious cancellation issues. For example, if you
ask
for a small right-tail you are likely to get total cancellation. For example
phyper(59, 150, 150, 60, FALSE, FALSE) gives 6.372680161e-14. The right answer

ACL/Files permissions with Win access control list
Hi,
I trying installing a Samba 3.0.1pre domain controller with ACL support.
It works fine but i've got strange behaviour managing the file
permissions access control list on Windows machines. When I add a domain
group or a domain user to the user list of a local file, it is correctly
shown. But, when I close and reopen the window, the username
(SERVER\username) is no longer shown, but

Can't use offline files in Windows 2000 properly
Hi,
I have Samba 2.2.3a running on a FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE system and a Windows 2000
Pro laptop.
I am trying to use the offline files feature in windows to keep offline copies
of some documents but it doesn't appear to play nicely with Samba :(
I setup some documents to sync and it appears to copy them over, and says it
was successful, but after I go offline they are 0 bytes long and in the

how to call an executable script each time a file is created or modified
is it possible to have a samba daemon call an
executable script each time a file within one of it
shares is modified or a new file is created?
I'm looking to develop a file catalogging system for
my file server which depends on my software being
notified each time a file is modified or a new file
created.
This allows the modified/new file to be scanned for
relavent information.

Samba3+Win9x userlist, Bug?!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Dear List,
Few days ago I've posted, that my Win9x boxes are unable to get the list
of domain users and groups from samba-3.0.0 server (for details see bug
596). Unfortunately the same is true for samba-3.0.1pre1.
Please people also having win9x boxes and Samba3 PDC confirm that it is
a bug, or a configuration error.
Thanks for any suggestion.

W98 can't get large list of users from Samba 3.0.0 PDC
I have installed the Samba 3.0.0 as PDC. If number of users is small (about
15) it works fine, but when it grows and the whole list of users or groups
doesn't fit in one RPC buffer, Win98 "servers" can't get it and unable to set
user level security.
User manager for domains from NT server can get and modify the users.
Is this bug or bad config?
