RSYNC without password
Can someone help me setup "rsync" with ssh without having to type in a password. I have tried several times to go through documentation on using the keygen and transfer it to the other computer but I am still being asked for the password. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/RSYNC-without-password-tp14371565p14371565.html Sent from the Samba - rsync mailing list

bogus file times in samba 3.5.4
Hi, I am seeing some very dodgy behavior from samba where the files times displayed to the client seem to have no basis in reality. In the example below The file was created on Oct. 5th but samba is saying the file time was way back on Sep. 30th. [root at tungsten KOSRCFLM]# ls -l 1321-538.dpn -rw-rw-r-- 1 resin resin 387 Oct 5 15:49 1321-538.dpn [root at tungsten KOSRCFLM]# stat 1321-538.dpn

WINS Server TIme out registering IP
I am seeing the following messages logged every 20 min on a Centos 5.5 Samba 3.5.7 (SerNet RPMs) PDC. wins server = yes is set and the 172.17.1.50 address is the address of the PDC. From a Windows client perspective the the domain is functioning as expected. There is a Samba BDC and mulitple Win2008 R2 member servers in the domain. Are they anything to be concerned about? Could not find lmer function in {Matrix} package
I am having trouble calling the lmer function in the {Matrix} package. I first installed and loaded {Matrix} as follows: > install.packages("Matrix") > library(Matrix) The package loaded successfully, however when I attempted to call lmer, I received the following message: Error: could not find function "lmer" I also tried: < ?lmer which produced no search

Linux virus
ugh :) Today I became infected with the bliss virus, any info on this would be appreciated! How do I scan for files infected and is it possible to remove it? I first noticed the infection when running a program (not as root) messages flashed on the screen about transversing directories and such. The program (gimp) had been working fine since I downloaded the binary for gimp from their main

libFLAC internals
Howdy. I'm working on Altivec versions of some of the libFLAC functions. I figured the best candidates would be those that had MMX/SSE/3dnow versions, and I picked FLAC__lpc_restore_signal() to do first, since it's relatively simple. In stepping through some runs, it appears that 'order' mod 4 is always 0. Is that guaranteed, either by the format or by higher functions in the

Altivec, automake
finished hooking up the altivec stuff so it works in ProjectBuilder. I ran a test, doing a 'flac -t' on 400MB of files compresses at level 5. the runtime dropped from from 180 sec to 105 sec! once I get the latest autotools on my ibook I'll try and get asm compilation to work that way. Altivec Optimizations
Hi, I have been playing with Altivec, and I rewrote a couple of the routines in assembly. Looking at the archives, I noticed that there may already be some effort on this. Anyways... Right now, I have two routines working. They need to be cleaned up, made relocatable, and documented; otherwise, they seem to work fairly well. I see an overall ~27% speed improvement when encoding with the

excluding directories in rsync
Hello Everyone, I am trying to exclude a directory (and all file and sub-directories under that directory) when using rsync. I have spent two days on google, but everything that I can find there involves excluding individual files, not an entire directory. I have tried the following commands, but in each case the remove_dir and all of its sub-directories and files area still sent to the remote

Altivec, automake
Here's what I listed in that email. Merging doesn't appear to be necessary. If you have any build problems, let me know. Note that my detection code is Darwin-specific. It's a BSD call (sysctl()), so a change to the platform-detection macros should enable it to work on other BSDs. However, I don't know what that would be, and I couldn't determine any safe way to do the check

build problems (autoconf/libtool)
Hi. I want to add some code to flac and am having trouble building it out of cvs. I've had several problems, most of which were pretty easy to work around or had already been discussed here. But this one has me stumped (though I am admittedly new to autoconf, automake, and libtool). Here's the problem. autoconf does not see any definition for AC_PROG_LIBTOOL. There is such a

Selinux blocking bind access to named/data and slave directories
I was getting permission errors (seen in /var/log/messages) in accessing these two directories within my chroot tree. I was pulling out what little hair I have, as the permissions were identical to those on my Centos 5.5 server. So I switched selinux into permissive mode and now I have /var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named.run and my ..../named/slave/ stubs. What is the selinux magic to
