Creating a reverse socket often (not always) fails.
Hi,
I'm a little stuck on getting reverse connection working reliably from embedded devices running dropbear 0.51 to Ubuntu 8.x openssh.
Connecting to local reverse socket often fails (not always) with "ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host"
My devices can reverse ssh and open a port on my server always, but often when the server is creating the reverse

sshd version OpenSSH_5.4p1 fails on OpenBSD 4.2 GENERIC macppc
Because OpenSSH_5.4 doesn't build on my OpenBSD 4.2 box, I tried
OpenSSH_5.4p1 which builds and installs fine.
After starting server with sudo /opt/sbin/sshd -p 2222 -d, my ssh
client can connect, but the session is closed by server as soon as it is
started:

Terminal modes
Hi,
I'm trying to use connect to an openssh server, setting some terminal
modes, and they don't seem to do what I want. Specifically, I'm trying to
disable echo from the server - hence the four modes in the sshd trace below
(53 for example is ECHO).
I've looked at the code. 0 would indicate that the option is negated in
the c_lflag field. And it seems like the modes are

Terminal mode (repost)
Hi,
I posted this before (I thought) but I'll give it another try (looks like
it arrived on the list on Saturday). :-(

to disable echo from the server - hence the four modes in the sshd trace

"ERR sshd: error: no more sessions" issue
Initially send this mail to user group. then realized this is more apt
place. Apologies for posting in both groups...
Hi all,
We're using openssh version 4.7p on our linux 2.6-22 kernel.
We have a Java based GUI that opens a secure shell connection to this linux box.
To do something over the connection, the GUI opens a session (some
times 3-4 simultaneous sessions) & once done, it will

LynxOS: ssh client hang on exit?
Hi,
I use openssh-2.9p2 on LynxOS i386 system. sshd runs
on LynxOS and ssh client on Redhat 7.0 Linux system
(openssh-2.9p2 ssh client). The ssh client hangs on
exit 90% of times. I don't think this is the usual
hang-on-exit bug, because, there are no background
processes running, I suppose. I attach the server
debug messages.

PermitRootLogin=forced-commands-only does not work with UsePrivilegeSeparation=yes
Using openssh-3.4p1 on Linux I noticed that PermitRootLogin=forced-commands-only
does not work if UsePrivilegeSeparation is enabled; but it does work if privsep
is disabled.
Here are excerpts of debug from the server.

Error when allocating PTY
hi everybody,
I'm working on an boot image and actually try to get an ssh server working on clients, booting that
image over the net. I want to authenticate with my public key on the client, which seems to work fine.
The only problem I have is that the sshd couldn't open an console. I've allready tested some things,
but didn't fix it, yet. in den dev directory all tty's and

ssh weirdness - hanging sessions intermittently with no connectivity after for an hour or so...
I just finished rebuilding my server after a penetration last week
which left my filesystem in shambles. I've gotten most everything
running again better than before with one exception.
sshd doesn't work as well as it used to and I'm not sure why, I'm
including a sanitized log snippet, hopefully someone can point out my
stupidity for me...
If I open a putty session from another

PAM problem - sshd segfault on Solaris
I'm using OpenSSH-2.9.9p2 on Solaris 8 sparc64. 2.9p2 worked fine, but
2.9.9p2+ is giving me trouble with one thing - sshd segfaults if I try to
connect and execute a command, such as "ssh machine ls". Otherwise it
works great. sshd will fork, and the child process segfaults.
CVS snapshot does the same thing.
I've narrowed this down somewhat. It will only happen if you use

Problems with PAM and PermitRootLogin without-password
Hello all,
I was running some tests with openssh 3.7.1p2 and I noticed that
PermitRootLogin without-password does not work when PAM is enabled. In
fact, when PAM is enabled, PermitRootLogin will work as "yes" if "
without-password" is used, no matter what kind of authentication is used
for root login. Is that a bug, I missed something in the configurations,
or expected

new problem with shell closing as soon as its launched under HP-U X 10.20
Our admins recently rebuilt a server and put the Dec. 2001 HP patch bundle
on it. The ssh software was installed from a software depot, so it is the
same as was previously on the server and as is on other, functional servers.
Upon such time, when sshd comes up, it will accept connections, authenticate
users as normal, but their shell appears to die during connection.
The only output a user will

snapshot sftpserver
I'm having some problems with the sftpserver from yesterdays snapshot. It's
working fine on the machine I built it on, but the (supposedly) identical
machines I rdisted it to fails (SGI O2, Irix 6.5.11m).
The client says:

still sftp-server problems with Irix?
Hello all,
Using 20000930 snapshot on Irix 6.5.9m.
SFTP connections with SSH 2.3.0 (Windows) die right out. Similar
configuration and the same version works fine in Red Hat Linux 6.2.
This is probably related to 'sftp' thread 7-10 days ago.
The error messages captured in debug mode:

openssh 4.0p1 under OSX
I'm having difficulty getting ssh to connect as any
local user under OSX 10.3.8. The odd thing is ssh -l
root localhost works fine as a normal user, whereas
ssh -l themac localhost (or from any host for that
matter) does not.
Thanks
