Re: issue with openssh-server running in a libvirt based centos virtual machine
You say you can ping but not ssh. If you install tcpdump on the VM, can you
see the ping packets arriving and leaving? If not, I suspect an address
collision - especially if ping continues to work with the VM shut down. If
you can't ping, check the other end of your bridge. I'm more familiar with
open vSwitch, but I'm somewhat concerned that your bridge definition
doesn't include a

can not lvcreate after lvm snapshot and "xm mem-set" and lvremove
I am not sure if it''s a xen bug or lvm bug, or just my bad hardware,
but here''s how to reproduce:
/dev/vg0/centos1 is lvm block used by a domainU, it''s 8G in size.
#lvcreate -L8192M -s -n snap1 vg0
#mount /dev/vg0/snap1 /mnt
do some copying files here
#umount /mnt
#lvremove /dev/vg0/snap1
not removed! it says can''t allocated memory

modifying isolinux.cfg of a given, bootable iso
Hello,
I want to modify isolinux.cfg of a given, bootable iso
(of Linux CentOs installation) according to my needs.
The things is :
I copy the contents of that iso to a different directory.
I modify the isolinux.cfg according to my needs.
Then what?
I had of course googled for it.
I had tried afterwards:
mkisofs -o centos1.iso -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -no-emul-boot
-boot-load-size 4 -boot-i

CentOS 5.1 Paravirtualized guest hangs during creation
Hi all,
I am creating a CentOS 5.1 Paravirtualized guest On Xen 3.2.1 / Fedora
8 Dom0. I built DomU kernel from the Xen Linux 2.6.18.8 source. I also
created an initrd image (I face some problems there as I had to manually
copy some modules line xennet, ahci and libata). Anyway, I dounloaded
the CentOS5.1 image from http://jailtime.org/ and copied it to a new
partition. When I create the

lvm cache + qemu-kvm stops working after about 20GB of writes
Hello,
I would really appreciate some help/guidance with this problem. First of
all sorry for the long message. I would file a bug, but do not know if
it is my fault, dm-cache, qemu or (probably) a combination of both. And
i can imagine some of you have this setup up and running without
problems (or maybe you think it works, just like i did, but it does not):

issue with openssh-server running in a libvirt based centos virtual machine
Hi,
I have a strange issue in a libvirt environment, and I do not know how
to solve it.
I have two centos hosts: first one is a physical server called
server1, that acts as a host for the second one, called centos1. The
centos1 is a virtual machine (VM) running in server1. A linux bridge
in forwarding mode is used to connect the centos1 VM network interface
to the server1 network interface and

3.6.10 file handle leak under ancient 32-bit kernel
Hello,
I've come across a curious issue with
Samba 3.6.10.
When running 'emacs' version
GNU Emacs 23.3.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.0.6002) of 2011-03-10 on 3249CTO
on Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64 and issuing
a file "revert" of one sort or another
against a Samba-served file, the 'smbd'
process leaks two or three handles.
Eventually, when 16k handles are open,
this causes

smbd high cpu load
We have a Linux file server for a set of computer science and
engineering
labs where each lab contains machines running Mac OS X, Ubuntu Linux,
or some incarnation of Windows. At times the these machines become
almost unusable and I think I have narrowed the problem to smbd
processes
soaking up all the CPU on the server. Running 'top' on the server
reveals a dozen or so entries like

TFTP server not working as expected when run from xinetd
Hi All,
I have a Trixbox server (CentOS derivative) from which our Cisco IP
phones get their config files via TFTP.
I have noticed that when I run the TFTP server via "service xinetd
start", I am not able to get files via TFTP. I have tested it by doing
a manual transfer via a TFTP client from another machine.
When I try to run the TFTP service manually by doing

Mandrake and xinetd/inetd issues
I was searching for help on Mandrake's site and got nowhere other than
seeing this really weird help-page loop where it showed the pages you could
go to, BUT would not show any information from the page.... Just use the
search from www.mandrake.com to see this strangeness.... No helpful...
Anyway.. trying to run drakconf and startup services to start either inetd
or xinetd seems to be
