rsync daemon and secrets file
I'm trying to understand how to properly setup the
/etc/rsyncd.conf file to run an rsync daemon with a
secrets file specified in a module - the rsync.conf
manpage does not spell it out clearly enough.
Rsync server is rsync-2.5.6.
If this is my /etc/rsyncd.conf file:

log file = /var/log/rsync

gid = root

uid = rsync1

reload nic modules after boot
Hi all, it''s happening a strange thing:
After I boot the xen dom0 network is unavailable: I have to unload the
network modules and load it again ( rmmod / modprobe) and execute a
service network restart)
This is strange, what do you suggest me to check?
Thanks

Securing Rsync
I have a rsync server set up on a win2k server and a win xp pro computer

However, I've tried setting up a password file and not having any
success.
rsyncd.conf on my server:
use chroot = false
strict modes = false
hosts allow = *
[serverbu]
auth users = user
path = c:/serverbu
read only = no

rsync compares all files again and again
Hi,
we do a 1:1 backup from our main raid to a backup raid every night with
rsync -a --delete /mnt/raid1/ /mnt/raid2
rsync is 3.09, filesystems are ext3, OS is SLES 11 SP1.
The rsync process takes several hours, even if no file has changed at all.
Using -vv I see that rsync compares all files every time and that takes
long for some hundreds of millions of small files.
Can I tell rsync it

[PATCH] daemon: selinux: Add setfiles -vv flags when verbose.
This shows which files are being relabelled. Also only use -q
(suppress non-error output) when we are not verbose.

rsync man pages, rsync faqs, problem with RSYNC_PASSWORD and --password-file
Hi all,
This isn't a bug, its just a lapse in the documentation.
I just got a script going that repeats every 5 seconds, that uses rsync
to send data from A, running Ubuntu V6.06.1, to B, running cygwin.
I got stuck on the issue of preventing the password prompt from
interrupting the script.
The problem is that the man pages are misleading, they suggest that

howto enable ssh on connect to rsync daemon
Hi,
I'm trying to setup automatic sync of files over SSH from node2 to node1.
node2 is the "server" and node1 is the "client".
I have setup rsync like this on the nodes which runs AIX (4.3.3 and 5.1):
1. Installed rsync from Linux Toolbox (rsync-2.5.4-1.aix4.3.ppc.rpm) on both nodes.
2. Added following to both nodes /etc/services file:
rsync 873/tcp
3. Added

Q: Rsync, Batch: How to avoid the "password" ask ?
Hi
As I want to automate my Desktop backup process, I'm currently trying
to finilize a CMD (Windows XP batch) file in order to save different data
(outlook.pst, \desktop, \docs, \Favorites ....).
My problem is that even with this parameter SET RSYNC_PASSWORD=xxxx
It still ask me for a password, blocking of course all the process
automation.
I'm running either on my Linux backup box

[LLVMdev] warning from -instcombine
Hi,
I noticed this code in lib/Transforms/Scalar/InstructionCombining.cpp:
cerr << "WARNING: While resolving call to function '"
<< Callee->getName() << "' arguments were dropped!\n";
If you're using LLVM as a static compiler, this warning is a bit
incongruous, because it's not formatted in the same way as warnings
