SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4 (fwd)
You can download Ncurses for SCO OpenServer via ftp://ftp2.caldera.com/pub/skunkware/osr5/vols/ncurses-4.2-VOLS.tar This is a tar archive of media images suitable for installation with the SCO Software Manager (/etc/custom). SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4
I've downloaded Samba 2.2.6 (binaries) from SCOs Skunkware site, but when I try and run smbclient I get a message : dynamic linker : smbclient : error opening /usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4 Killed I've checked and there is no libncurses.so.4 (or libncurses.<anything> for that matter) on the system. I've also failed to find anything relevant in either the list archive or SCOs

command line edit
Does anybody know a way to edit your command line arguments on the command line, other than deleting everything and re-typing? My user just want to be able to use emacs like commands - like you can do in a shell, and s-plus from what he says. I attempted to set up the emacs add-on, without much success, on a Solaris 7 box, but he doesn't really want that, he just wants the command line

secrets.tdb and IDS
Hi All, I'm fine tuning my home grown IDS system that checks md5 sums of important config files, and was going to put the secrets.tdb file in the mix, but can't find when and where changes are made to this file. We had a change this morning but nobody was logged in to either Unix or Samba, that I can tell. Of course I'm not able to read it either. This is a stand alone samba

OpenSHH on SCO Open Server 3
Is anyone still using OpenSSH on SCO Open Server 3? My clients no longer run Open Server 3. The entropy gathering code changes have broken the Open Server 3 build. If there is still interest I'll work on it. If not, I have no need for it. -- Tim Rice Multitalents (707) 887-1469 tim at multitalents.net

R Newbie, please help!
Hello Everyone, I just started a new job & it requires heavy use of R to analyze datasets. I have a data.table that looks like this. It is sorted by ID & Date, there are about 150 different IDs & the dataset spans 3 million rows. The main columns of concern are ID, date, and totret. What I need to do is to derive daily returns for each ID from totret, which is simply totret at time

Issue with DHCP Updating DNS Records on AD DC
Greetings, I am in the process of replacing my MicroFocus (Novell) eDirectory system with a Samba-based Active Directory system. I've got three domain controllers built, and they seem to be humming along nicely. Server OS is Ubuntu 18.04 patched current. I started off with the Samba 4.7 packages included in the default Ubuntu repository, but have since upgraded to Samba 4.10 using packages

HELP!!!! - Samba 2.2.6 SCO Port
Hi there - I am lost currently, I have a situation where files in excess of 10MB will not transfer from UNIX to Windows XP or in return, when I attempt to do this the files come across corrupted. However, any file that is not big in size has no problem in transferring. I have looked everywhere for an answer or a resolution to this issue, and this is my last resort:( Look forward to hearing

Compile problem with 2.2.2 with SCO OpenServer 506 after rs506a installed
I never have had a problem compiling Samba until 2.2.2 after installing a SCO patch 506a on OpenServer 5.0.6. I noticed the following message when running configure that does not normally appear: WARNING: No automated network interface determination make output: Using FLAGS = -O -Iinclude -I./include -I./ubiqx -I./smbwrapper -DLOGFILEBASE ="/usr/local/samba/var"

Port to SCO Openserver with PAM enabled
Hi all, I'm writing to you becuase I have compiled PAM in SCO (now Caldera) Openserver 5.0.x, and when I tried to use SSH with PAM enabled, y realized that OpenSSH depends on the user to exist en the /etc/passwd, and /etc/shadow databases, or equivalent ones (it uses getpw...() functions to determine validity of the user). In Linux, the simlpe solution is to use nsswitch, but it seems to hard

oplock and SCO 5.0.4
Hi Just thought I'd "help" everyone by stoking the argument about oplocks having a timing problem with a vague set of observations :-) I have a strange problem using samba 2.0.5a on SCO 5.0.4: With the binary compiled versions kindly provided by Stephen Davies on ftp.sdc.com.au I have no problems reading or writing files to the SCO server at all. However, when I compile my own
