Using --remove-source-files with backup?
I have a scenario where I am copying from a local system to remote target and need to remove the local source files once they have been successfully transfered. --remove-source-files works fine for this. An issue has come up in that I need to be able to backup the removed local source files as well. With rsync 2.6.9 I tried: rsync --remove-source-files --backup-dir=/archive –abv (source)

Somewhat bizzare share issue
I have 19 servers with this smb.conf share definition working: [export] comment = Exported Files path = /tmp/export guest ok = Yes On the 20th server however, this just doesn't want to work. I've gone through the basics of guest access and permissions more than a few times trying to figure this one out. Approaching this from another angle, I tried the following

source output differs from console output
Dear R-help, I would like to be able to run the following code sequence as a source routine. If I paste it into R via the clipboard it works as expected, but if I source the code instead then the last 3 statements fail. I've also tried writing to the file in place of the sink sequence, but that also hits a snag. R 1.6, w98e2, dfr is a data frame containing the content of Julian

[PATCH net-next V3 6/6] tun: switch to use skb array for tx
We used to queue tx packets in sk_receive_queue, this is less efficient since it requires spinlocks to synchronize between producer and consumer. This patch tries to address this by: - switch from sk_receive_queue to a skb_array, and resize it when tx_queue_len was changed. - introduce a new proto_ops peek_len which was used for peeking the skb length. - implement a tun version of peek_len

[PATCH net-next V3 3/3] tun: rx batching
We can only process 1 packet at one time during sendmsg(). This often lead bad cache utilization under heavy load. So this patch tries to do some batching during rx before submitting them to host network stack. This is done through accepting MSG_MORE as a hint from sendmsg() caller, if it was set, batch the packet temporarily in a linked list and submit them all once MSG_MORE were cleared. Tests

rsync does hours of "fake-work" after failure
Hi, I just stepped on a strange and very annoying bug in rsync-3.1.0 as shipped with SuSE Linux Enterprise 12, but verified the bug also with rsync-HEAD-20170123. I tried to copy some of my movie collection to a usb disk that our TV could read, so it was formatted with vfat. I forgot that vfat can't handle files > 4 GB, and some of the movies were larger. rsync worked for 3 hours copying
