Bug(s) w/ rbind.data.frame(); fix also read.table(*, as.is = TRUE) ? (PR#669)
This is not only bug report, but also a RFC (request for comments):
The basic problem is that there are (at least) two ways of easily getting
non-factor character columns in data.frames.
The first is
read.table(*, as.is = TRUE)
and the second is
data.frame(.., I(...), ..)
which differ in their result. Whereas the first produces `pure' character
columns in the data.frame,

Wanted: Unix Winpopup receiver program.
I want to use smbclient -M to send new mail notification to unix users.
I have some of our workstations running smbd from inetd and am using the
"message command" option quite successfully.
What I was wondering is, has someone implemented the winpopup reception
end in a form that would be more efficient than using full blown smbd?
Am I making myself clear?
Perhaps if someone could

xattr version generates 'wrong write used in receiver'
Applying the xattr and acl patch to 2.6.9, running ./prepare-source
and config with
./configure --enable-xattr-support
results in a version which fails to transfer with the error msg
'wrong write used in receiver' and complaints about protocol
mismatch. I see there's a patch for a similar problem when
SUPPORT_ACLS is defined; anybody done one for --xattrs? No, I'm not

preserve ctimes of *unchanged* directories on receiver
'rsync -a' updates the ctime on a directory even if no file in that directory
has changed. A kind of workaround is to use '-O', but then the mtimes of
directories are not preserved.
(Usage example where this is important: maintain a copy of filesystem A in
filesystem B, and use filesystem B as the source for incremental backups
(e.g., with star). rsync is run before an

chmod/chown on receiver
Hi there,
I'm pushing a directory tree from a samba server with notificytion via
fileschanged (FAM) to a webserver for procession images into an
image-database. These files have to be rw by wwwrun on the receiver.
If the receiver woul pull the files, the script could chmod after transfer,
but how can the sender do a chown/chmod on the receivers side? Maybe -o -g
-p can be enhanced or

Lock-up during boot when Logitech unifying receiver is connected (UEFI problem?)
Hi,
I've got a bit of an issue after I switched to a new laptop for my
CentOS 6.9 installation: I'm using a Logitech cordless keyboard and
mouse that communicate with the system via a so-called "unifying
receiver". If this unit (a small USB thingummy) is connected when I try
to boot the system, it locks up completely. This happens before the GRUB
screen is displayed. The

Citrix receiver and certificates on CentOS 7
Hi,
I'm currently migrating a client's workstation from OpenSUSE Leap 15.0
to my personal blend of CentOS 7 and KDE.
The client has some extra software installed on his machine, and one of
these applications is causing me some troubles: Citrix Receiver.
Here's my old blog article on installing Citrix Receiver on OpenSUSE :

[Bug 3021] No deletion on receiver side when using --delete and --files-from
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3021
------- Additional Comments From romary@nikoon.com 2005-08-21 09:56 -------
Sorry, I'am not using:
>>rsync -aHvzc --delete --delete-excluded --exclude-from=$TOEXCULE_LIST_FILES
but
>>rsync -aHvzc --delete--files-from=$TORSYNC_LIST_FILES
And this command never delete any file on receiver side...
Is this normal?

Internal error: wrong write used in receiver.
Hi,
I just started to use rsync-acl-2.6.9.tar.bz2
And I got the same error
Internal error: wrong write used in receiver.
rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at io.c(1204) [generator=
2.6.9]
rsync error: received SIGUSR1 (code 19) at main.c(1182) [receiver=2.6.9]
it runs just fine without "--delete --force"
I thought just --force is the cause of the error but I
