Hi,
I am using cwRsync on windows xp and getting following error when I start
the rsync client to do local copy. Looks like some kind of permission issue.
Any configuration to be done on windows or rsync side?

problems with permissions on windows
Hello,
I'm using cwRsync on windows (I've tried a few alternatives, like
Delta for example, but all of them behave equally (bad) in my case -
they set really weird permissions on binaries - I don't know which
ones exactly, but binaries cannot be executed).
I have a linux server with binaries for different platforms. When I
rsync (copy) linux binaries to linux, or copy mac binaries

cwrsync server 2.0.4 / winxp / ownership problems?
Hi all!
We're using cwrsync server 2.0.4 on winxp to keep files up to date between
some operator machines.
Whenever I run rsync to send files to another machine, the read-only flag
gets set. The cwrsync user was created (the install is completely
standard)... so I'm thinking it might have something to do with that.
Here's my rsyncd.conf:
use chroot = false
strict modes = false

The server is configured to refuse --iconv
I've just tried upgrading to cwrsync 2.1.0 (Rsync version 3.0.0 protocol
version 30) between 2 Windows XP Pro sp2 machine across the Internet.
I used:
SET CYGWIN=nontsec
SET HOME=c:\cwrsync\bin
C:\cwrsync\bin\rsync -za -u -P --delete --recursive /cygdrive/c/test2/
stuart@test.address.co.uk::test/
When I run the above batch script on the remote machine I get this odd output.

rsync client to daemon over ssh tunnel connection issues
Yes this is another connection reset issue but all I am asking is some
pointers on how I can possibly determine what and why this is happening.
Its easy to say its a network issue but the bosses and clients want to know
how to fix this said "network issue."
I have read the rsync issues list. Some of what is suggested we might try
HOWEVER we cannot duplicate the errors that occur and

TrueCrypt WD External Drive
I have a WD Elements 2TB USB hard drive. I would like to
encrypt the whole drive with TrueCrypt on my CentOS box.
Could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to do this?
Ideally, I would also like to access it with my WinXP box,
but this part is optional.
Thanks for your help.
Mike.

Question about WD drives with Super Microsystems
Sc847 36 drive config. Wd RE3 1tb drives. Areca and lsi hba. 3 or so drives would completely hang under any kind of decent load.
Replaced with lsi 1068 and chenbro sas espanders and replaced the supermicro backplane with the -A version (direct port) and its been riPping along for well over a year. We replaced the 3gb backplane 2x and exact same failures. Supermicro refuses to concede a problem

issues with the WD
ood morning,
I am reaching out to discus an issue I am having with setting a working
directing.
I have tried github, stack overload, setwd, getwd, all to no avail. I am
used to setting a working directory in 3.1.1 and have yet to get 3.4.1 to
work properly.
Let me know if there is anyone who I can talk to about this.
Thank you so much,
My best,

ASUS P5GC-MX/1333+ WD SATA
Hi, I'm puzzled by an ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 with a WD320AAJS disk. My 5.2
DVD refused to see the hard disk. As the CD happened to have a bad MD5
sum, I assumed this was due to a bad burnt image.
Backed off to 5.1. Installation of 5.1 to /dev/sda went OK, then I
upgraded by yum to 5.2. But, at the next boot, the new kernel can't
see the disk. Only when BIOS IDE Setup is "compatible"

mounting WD mybook World Edition 2 via samba
Hi there,
I have found a bunch of sites explaining how to mount the WD mybook
World Edition 2 via samba. Fine and Dandy - I've been able to mount the
drive.
I still am unable to write from the ubuntu server to the drive mounted
via samba. What are some things I can check here?

Speed problem Ubuntu < WD TV Live
Dear all,
I have experiencing some speed issues recently when moving files using
Samba between a linux box (Kubuntu 10.10) and a media player called WD
TV Live.
Both are wired to a 100 Mb network, together with a Windows 7 box. In
principle I believe is not a hardware issue. When I move files between
the WD TV Live and the Windows box I get speeds of around 8 MB/s.
Between Kubuntu and WDTV I get

hard drive question - WD red
I see a really good price, and better for quantity, for 3TB drives. Now,
I've been down on WD for a couple of years, since I found that they'd
protected certain h/d parms from being changed (like TLER). The ones I'm
looking at are the Red, which seems to be a new color (at least to me),
and one technical review I've read says that they're intended for NAS,
etc, and you can
