http as a transport for rsync?
Given the increasing reliance on proxies and filtering devices, it is
harder and harder to rsync across the net. Do you think we will ever
be able to use http as a transport for rsync? For example, when will
I be able to do this:
rsync -arv http://rsync.domain.tld/webroot
It would seem that this is the logical next step for rsync and is the
one feature I most desparately need. What

HTTP encapsulated rsync??
Hi folks, I am hoping someone here can offer some suggestions. Here
is my situation:
I am using rsync over the internet for several hundred clients to
keep them in sync with a master repository of files. The rsync
daemon is listening on port 80, because most of the clients are
behind firewalls that only allow outbound port 80 (and other common
ports). This works fine for most of them

How to rsync PULL multiple files/dirs
Hi all,
I am wondering how do I pull data from a remote host without running a
daemon.
PUSH command
I would like the below statement be turned into a PULL from remote host
instead.
/usr/bin/rsync -e ssh --archive --sparse --compress --update --verbose
--stats --progress --exclude=cdersync.tar.gz --exclude=*.bz2
--exclude=*.jpg --exclude=*.mp3 --exclude=ZDE --exclude=*.rpm

are --temp-dir and --daemon mode compatible options
Hi,
As far as I can tell, after version 2.6.4, the "--daemon" and "--temp-dir" options are not compatible anymore. Previous versions allow this. We use this heavily at my site. Is this an intentional change or bug?
My command to start the daemon is this:
/usr/local/bin/rsync --temp-dir=/.rsyncd-spool --daemon
Thanks,
-Eddie

Include and Exclude
Hi guys,
actually with this command:
rsync -avzHP --include "3.4/" --include "3.4/**" --include "4.0/"
--include "4.0/**" --exclude "*" --bwlimit=30
rsync.example.foo::packages/centos/* .
i correctly rsync only 3.4 and 4.0 dirs of repository...
I would like to rsync only dirs "xxx" and "yyy" from 3.4 and 4.0, for example:

More confusion on exclude rules
I have created two new files /export/home/bin/test_temp.delete_me and
/export/home/webmstr/nflmg/scripts/regional/misc_loaders/test_temp.delete_me
on the rsync server and am using the following exclude file.
+ bin/
+ nflmg/scripts/regional/misc_loaders/
