[patch] Make robust_rename() handle EXDEV.

patch for better handling of write failures (disk full)
I've been having problems trying to sync two small partitions (128MB) that may be near to full. If rsync gets a write error (such as is caused when you fill up a partition) during a sync without the use of "-T", it will stop with this error: rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes: phase "unknown": Broken pipe rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream

PATCH: better handling for write failures (disk full)
[I sent this the other day, but it never got approved for the list] I've been having problems trying to sync two small partitions (128MB) that are usually near being full. new option suggestion '--backup-only'
Hi, How about adding now option '--backup-only' that means making backups only and don't change any destination files? (I posted similar patch a month ago, but the patch was made for nightly snapshot of 20020808, which was tooo old! Laugh at me...) I want to use rsync with LVM snapshot to make incremental backups like below: 1) Make LVM snapshot of file system and mount it.

patch to avoid race condition in rsync 2.5.6
There is a small race condition in rsync 2.5.6. When the transfer is finished, and the file is moved into place, there is a short time period where the new file is in place with the wrong permissions. When using rsync on a busy email server to replace the exim config file with a new file, exim will produce several complaints in that short period. This small patch fixes the problem, by making

Hi everyone I'm still getting strange sizes on the daemon logs. After transferring around 1.66GB over 14 hours (256kbit link) to an absolutely empty directory, I get: 2007/01/26 04:13:43 [26441] sent 57014 bytes received 44708 bytes total size 1947222268 du reports the final size of the directory on the daemon side as 1.6 G, and the "received" bytes can't be 44708?! rsync load problem
Hi all! Can someone tell me please why rsync -avt --whole-file -O --safe-links causes huge load on receiver. As i know, the only main load causes are compression (-z) and the deltas calculating (disabled iin my case by --whole-file). -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/rsync-load--problem-tf3013151.html#a8367649 Sent from the Samba - rsync mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

--fuzzy question
Hi, I have a file that changes slightly in size every day and has the timestamp appended to it.. for example on the 14th may: MybackedUpFileBlabla_200905140219.bak This is transferred by rsync to another server. The next day that file is deleted and substituted by a new file on the sender.. the new file would be named for example (15th May): MybackedUpFileBlabla_200905150221.bak The new file

Hi, I'm curious if anybody knows the exact reason why the weak checksum calculation is slightly different to the standard adler-32 checksum as seen for example here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adler-32 ? rsync-2.5.1 / updated syscall.c "const" patch
Operating System: OpenVMS ALPHA V7.3 Compiler: Compaq C T6.5 Compiler switches: /WARN=ENABLE=(LEVEL4, QUESTCODE) syscall.c is missing the "const" qualifiers for several of it's functions. This patch should supercede the previous patch I submitted. This was discovered while working on resovling the conflicts between signed and unsigned values. -John wb8tyw@qsl.network Personal
