R CMD INSTALL fails if cd prints stuff to stdout ... (PR#8363)
--Boundary_(ID_erFAa+o6kWefQxXf6GD2RA) Content-type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-disposition: inline Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Dear all, I came across puzzling behaviour of R CMD INSTALL, which I tracked down to the fact that in some shells (or in some user customizations of them), the cd command prints out the new directory. As a result, the $pkgs variable gets a

(PR#8363) R CMD INSTALL fails if cd prints stuff to stdout
What shells are these? You don't give an example that causes trouble, and in particular no way to reproduce this. The behaviour you describe is prohibited by the POSIX standard, so the problem would appear to be with the unnamed shell. I can see how it could happen if a user redefines 'cd', but then a user could redefine all the commands in his OS and we have to make some

Re: Exchange Server in DMZ (i-hacked.com)
Hiya, My two cents here .. I use a locked down Linux Sendmail relay (use sendmail null-client feature on any spare old server or PC) in my DMZ to relay Mail to the exchange server in my local zone. Its sort of the moat you have to cross over to get at the castle walls and the hot oil dumped on your head approach. Francesca C. Smith Lady Linux Internet Services 1801 Bolton Street # 1 Baltimore,

When I load the codec as an Audio Codec the call to AudioCodecInitialize appears to work but if I then get the IsInitialized property that says it is not initialized - so looks like that is my problem, and ties up with the crash in vorbis_synthesis_start(). Looks like vorbis_synthesis_init() has not been called, perhaps. There's sample code out there that suggests people have got this

How do I allow traceroute to reach my server? Pings work fine but traceroute stops at the last hop before my server. If I shut off the firewall it reaches it fine. Extending schema on Centos DS
I am running CentOS DS server (version 8.1.0) in a mixed master setup. I am looking for the best way to extend the schema without breaking replication? I was successfully able to extend the schema on my two servers manually but replication broke after a restart of dirsrv. FYI, not sure if it's of use to you... but... The digium tc400b is a transcoder card that can offload upto 120 channels of transcoding for g729 <-> ulaw... It's available as PCI only, but, if that's OK, it could be an alternative to replacing your server... G729 licenses are not needed when using that card... There have been posts by some people about having multiple CPU

Efficient way to code using optim()
Hi all, I am trying to estimate a simple logit model. By using MLE, I am maximizing the log likelihood, with optim(). The thing is, each observation has different set of choice options, so I need a loop inside the objective function, which I think slows down the optimization process. The data is constructed so that each row represent the characteristics for one alternative, and CS is a

Wine release 1.6-rc1
The Wine development release 1.6-rc1 is now available. This is the first release candidate for the upcoming Wine 1.6. It marks the beginning of the code freeze period. Please give this release a good testing to help us make 1.6 as good as possible. What's new in this release (see below for details): - New implementation of the typelib creation support. - GLSL-based support for fixed
