What motherboard to use?
Hi list, I run several linux-hosts under Xen, but on my computer at home
I''d like to get Windows running too as I need it once in a while..
I have an AMD X2 CPU and plenty of RAM running on an ABIT kn9 SLI
motherboard.
I can''t seem to find any info about support for AMD-V on this motherboard,
so I guess I need a new one...
Any suggestions as to what to buy?
Thanx

Error in rsync protocol datastream on sync of
Hi list.
I'm using OpenVPN to rsync a bunch of hosts each night and it works great
on all but two of them which gives:
Error in rsync protocol datastream on sync of <hostname>
allmost every night.
One of them is on a narrow line, so I could believe it was that causing it,
but the other is on a 4Mb SDSL and should have the best connection of them
all...
What can cause this error, how

Setting up BackupPC on CentOS-7
I'd be interested in any corrections or comments
on the following instructions (basically for myself):
We assume that BackupPC has been installed:
sudo yum install BackupPC
1. BackupPC must be run by the user backuppc.
Accordingly the lines
User apache
Group apache
in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf should be changed to
User backuppc
Group backuppc
2. The user backuppc must be able to

BackupPC
Hello,
Been working on this for a couple days and I am stuck!
Followed the CentOS WIKI on BackupPC to the letter. It may be outdated, not
sure. I also looked at the tutorial on HowToForge.
I'm trying to get a windows client to backup via smb.
I created the user 'backuppc' on the windows client with admin priviledges.
I can map the drive/share from my CentOS Samba server using

Setting up BackupPC on CentOS-7
I am interested in understanding the thing with BackupPC.
What does it have compared to basic rsync?
- It has a webui
Is it like a central backup server? if so, how it works with windows
clients(if it is?)
Just want to make sure.. I understood right.
Why did you choose this over other software?
Thanks,
Eliezer

Tapdisk processes being left behind when hvm domu's migrate/shutdown
Hi All,
I'm seeing tapdisk processes not being terminated after a HVM vm is shutdown or migrated away. I don't see this problem with linux paravirt domu's, just windows hvm ones.

BackupPC 2.0.0beta0 released - now supports rsync
I just released version 2.0.0beta0 of BackupPC on SourceForge, see
http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
What is BackupPC? It is an enterprise-grade open-source package for
backing up WinXX and *nix systems to disk. It supports transport via
SMB, tar and now rsync over rsh/ssh and rsyncd. The backend features
hard-linking of any identical files (not just files with the same
name) and

how to install BackupPC on CentOS 5.2 -- use Testing repository
Hi. I just installed CentOS for the first time, to make a BackupPC server.
However, when I try to install BackupPC using yum, I get the error:
No package backuppc available.
I searched the Testing, Extras and CentOS Plus repositories, and found
a BackupPC package only in Testing, at
http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/x86_64/RPMS/backuppc-3.1.0-1.el5.centos.x86_64.rpm

BackupPC: two newbie questions
I'm running BackupPC under Centos-5.2.
1. Will BackupPC backup files in NFS-mounted directories?
If so, is there any simple way of preventing this?
2. I have seen it suggested that it is not a good idea
to backup onto a partition on the same drive
as the BackupPC server?
Is that true?
If so, is a partition on a separate drive on the same machine also bad?
Ps Apologies if this has been

Latest BackupPC release in CentOS testing repo
BackupPC released 3.2.0 as a stable version a few weeks ago. The most
current release is 3.1.0 in the testing repository. Are there any plans
that this will be updated to 3.2.0 in the repo some time down the road?
Also, will the BackupPC package be moved out of testing and into extras
ever? Or are there reasons behind this that are more complicated, making
it not "stable" to be in

BackupPC FAQ? Backups Apparently Working, but Web Interface Shows Nothing
BackuPC host is CentOS 6.2. Just one windows XP client. SMB backups
appear to be working; there is data in the backup directory tree,
including a subdir named for the client, in which I can manually view
individual files that have been backed up.
Now trying to use the web interface. Apache lets me log in, but the
status screen shows nothing. Hosts screen says:

backuppc problem
I've installed backuppc from the EPEL repository. It does backups just
fine, BUT, when the backups are done, the status on the web page says
there are no backups for any of my systems I'm backing up.
To be sure, they are taking up disk space, but it's just not reporting
it correctly to the admin web interface.
I'm thinking I'm missing some package I need, but am not sure
