send_files failed to open filename ...
Hi everybody,
I'm mirroring some websites with rsync (daemon on the source), and I
noticed in the destination host some error messages 'send_files failed
to open filenames',
Actually, the concerned files are deleted on the source host, but I
would like to ask :
* why does rsync say these (in which phase) ?
* is these messages harmful or not ?
Here below my rsync command and some

send_files failed to open
Help!
i like to use rsync 'version 2.5.5 protocol version 26'
to sync some Volumes over the Network.
The Plan:
At some day there will be a FileServer called 'fileserver'
(the Master) and a FileServer called 'Yesterday'
'Yesterday' will always have the last night status from the
'fileserver' without any write access. So if the
fileserver fails or

I am getting a very strange rsync error:

rsync hangs in 'send_files starting'
Hi all,
I am new to this list. I have a problem trying to mirror a cvs repository. I
suspect the error happens when getting a directory containing many files. I
did a test by creating 200 5k files in a directory named tmp, but It hangs
after building file list. When I try to run it with -vvv:
$ rsync -essh -avvvz cheepy@gateway.internet4u.com.au:tmp .
This is the end of the printout (before

rsync 3.0.1pre -H fails assertion
Wayne,
I have this bug in redhat bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=439074
Summary: rsync 3.0.1pre -H fails assertion
Is it ok to pass this kind of bug directly upstream filing a new bug in
bugzilla and linking the fedora bug ?
(There is also a reproducer there)
Simo.

using -v and -q together
seems the behavior of rsync has changed when dealing with output and using
both -v and -q at the same time ... for example:
$ mkdir test1
$ touch test1/foo
$ rsync-2.6.0 -avq test1 test2
$ rm -r test2
$ rsync-2.6.8 -avq test1 test2
test1/
test1/fo
$ rm -r test2
$ rsync-cvs -avq test1 test2
building file list ... test1/
test1/fo
$ rm -r test2
the new output in 2.6.8 comes from the calls to

Public mirror synchronization failing
Hello,
Our CentOS public mirror synchronization is failing since yesterday,
with the log files showing the following "Permission denied" messages.
It seems that my server is not able to access some of the files; any
leads on to how to resolve it?
rsync: send_files failed to open

rsync copying over existing files
Hi again all..
When using rsync 3.0 to sync files between 2 local directories, it works as
i expect it, but when the destination folder is a mounted smb share, it
always copies over the files even though they already exist on the
destination.
Any ideas on why this is happening? even using the same options, but with a
different destination path.
I have tried using -vvv, but it doesn't make
