Number of files to be transferred?
I'm writing a wrapper around a large number of rsyncs that need to
happen, and it would be great if I could parse the output of a running
rsync and find out how far along it is. To do this, I would need to
know how many files the rsync is going to transfer. If I run 'rsync
-avz --progress', it tells me how many files it is considering, but not
how many it actually needs to update.

Textures Twiddling/Swizzling
Thanks for the last info it was truely helpful.
Anyways, I'm currently trying to implement 3D textures into yuzu, as far as
I know they are twiddled in a different manner to 2D textures. Could one of
you guys point me in the right direction? I've been meddling around:

but I can't see where the

Question on interoperability with Nouveau
Hi guys again. A homebrew developer (homebrew is custom software made for
the switch using openGL under nouveau) reported to me that 'glGenerateMipmap'
wasn't working on yuzu (Nintendo Switch emulator). I looked into it and I
noticed all the triangle data used by nouveau to render the mipmaps was all
zeroed out, meaning that probably we don't implement the mechanism you guys
use to

Rsync from windows to unix
Hi,
I'm trying to use rsync from Windows to Unix.
I've followed the directions on :
http://optics.ph.unimelb.edu.au/help/rsync/rsync_pc1.html
I can see ssh running on the windows machine, because
I tested it using telnet localhost 22 and I can see
the result "SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.4p1".
But when I try
"$ rsync -avz -e ssh user@windowsserver::/rsync/* ."

Rsync help needed...
Hello,
I was reading your posts about RSYNC. We have a massive Oracle schema lots
of datafiles about 750 GB size. We do rsync datafiles from source to target
server but everytime we cleanup the datafiles on the target server and do
rsync every 2 weeks. On the target side mostly the datafiles will be same
but on source we might have added few datafiles or made some changes in data
and as such the

include-from with different source points
Trying to automate backup of the following local mounts/directories to
a usb drive (/mnt/usbbackup); here's what's in my include file:
+ /home/gravyface/www/*
+ /mnt/datadisk1/music/*
+ /mnt/datadisk2/projects/*
If I run the following, nothing happens, so I checked the man and I'm
not specifying a source (I thought the include-from was the source):
sudo rsync --progress -avz

Rsync error main.c
Rsync Ver: 2.5.5
OS: HPUX-11
Hello List,
I'm using rsync with ssh with this command line:
rsync -avz -e ssh some_file user-b@hostname-b:/home/user-b
Which does work, however I get the following error output:
rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at main.c(578)
Since the file does transfer, is the error output just some sort of bug? I
looked in the maillist archives, and I found

Hi,
I'm trying to backup from one machine to the other (automatically via
cron) using rsync and ssh password-less public key authentication.
I having been trying to set this up following an article in a Linux
magazine[1] by only allowing the specific rsync command to run on the
remote box.
I am using the following rsync command:

exclude a pattern but only in the top level
Consider the following directory structure
/foo/aaa/*/*
/foo/bbb/*/*
/foo/ccc/*/*
I want to sync all of /foo,
but exclude /foo/aaa
but not exclude any other occurances of "aaa" or "foo/aaa" (be they
files or dirs) that might occur within the other dirs /foo/bbb/*
/foo/ccc/* etc
I don't want to exclude /foo/bbb/aaa or /foo/ccc/111/aaa or
/foo/ccc/111/foo/aaa etc...

destination directory problems
I am having a problem getting my files backed up to
the location I want
to from a WinXP client going to a Debian rsync server.
The following is sending asm/ to /home/robert/backup
folder.
rsync -avz /cygdrive/d/asm
robert@192.168.1.102:backup/
My understanding of the rsync man page is that this is
supposed to send
asm/ to what the path that is defined in rsyncd.conf,
mine is defined
as /backup.

modules madness / ssh regardless of daemon
I just installed rsync on two machines, I think I'm a complete moron,
and I need a clue bat.
The remote machine's /etc/rsyncd.conf (just for testing):

log file = /var/log/rsyncd.log
pid file = /var/run/rsyncd.pid
lock file = /var/run/rsync.lock
[auth]
path = /var/www/auth
comment = apache authentication files.
read only = yes
Then for a test, I fired up

push data instead of pull
Hi,
I have a rsync server set up.
Can i push data from the server to another machine
instead of pulling data from that machine.
when i try to do that i get this error.
mkdir tohost:/tmp ; No such file or directory.
But the directory exists. This is the command i
executed.
rsync -avz --rsync-path=/usr/bin/rsync
fromhost::test tohost:/tmp
This works fine if iam logged onto "tohost"
