retransfer fail of large files with inplace and broken pipe
Hi, i have to tranfer large files each 5-100 GB (mo-fri) over dsl line. unfortunately dsl lines are often not very stable and i got a broken pipe error. (dsl lines are getting a new ip if they are broken or at least after a reconnect every 24 hours) i had a script which detect the rsync error and restart the transmission. this means that if a file has transfered e.g. 80 % i start again from

Icecast deadlock with 1.3.12 (fixed)
This is in CVS, FWIW (that is, not much since the odds of 1.3.13 being released are epsilon close to nil). Thats correct. Xiph is responsible for the FLAC source code. Xiph does not provide binaries for Linux, Windows or Mac.

mtime handling seems generally buggy for directories
Hello again, as stated earlier there is a problem with mtime setting on directories during healing in replication setup. Today I tested 2.0.5 and found out that the handling is more or less generally buggy for directory mtimes. Simply try this: untar some kernel archive on your local disk and look at the mtime of the created top directory. now untar the same archive on an exported gluster fs and

replacement for IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7
While running dovecot on debian etch using version 1.0.rc15-2etch3, i wonder the following: If i read the config files correctly, dovecot seems to have no equivalent of courier's IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7 setting. Therefore, i wrote a script that dives into the user's directories and their maildirs. It looks like this: ============================================= #!/bin/bash for pad1

smbclient and large file support
smbclient (and smbtar) in version 2.2.7a (and prior) has problems with large files (> 4GB). The following patch (against 2.2.7a) fixes all known problems with this. This code has been checked into the CVS tree in all branches as well. -- ====================================================================== Herb Lewis Silicon Graphics Networking Engineer

Run away memory with gluster mount
*sigh* trying again to correct formatting ... apologize for the earlier mess. Having a memory issue with Gluster 3.12.4 and not sure how to troubleshoot. I don't *think* this is expected behavior. This is on an updated CentOS 7 box. The setup is a simple two node replicated layout where the two nodes act as both server and client. The volume in question: Volume Name: GlusterWWW Type:

Ext 2/3 overwriting remnant data & use of data blocks - security
Greetings all- I am conducting security testing on a device that uses Linux 2.4 with ext3. I am testing secure overwrite of remnant data in temporary files, but have run into a real good stumpper in the way Ext allocates data blocks. I've got 10 yrs of *NIX behind me, several with Linux, and this has really got me perplexed as I can't find any documentation explaining the subject

mtime not updating on remote directory
Hello, I'm using rsync as part of a centralised config management for several servers. I'm trying to monitor the mtime of a particular directory and confirm that the remote copies are approximately as new as the the local master. However, mtime on that directory is not being synced. Here's my rsync command: cd $confdir && rsync -avpzR --checksum -I -e "ssh"

SIA support patches for Tru64 UNIX
I think I'm ready with the SIA (Security Integration Architecture) patches for Tru64 UNIX. All of the code was written by Tom Woodburn, an engineer at Compaq. I've only performed integration and testing of the patches with more help from Tom. Tom's original patches were included in the "other" ssh. We'd both like to see SIA support get into OpenSSH. SIA provides PAM-like

Maildir files with mtime in the future
If Maildir storage is used, the mtime of a given Maildir file is set to the message's INTERNALDATE. Now, when a client APPENDs a message to an IMAP mailbox, the client may optionally specify the INTERNALDATE: | If a date-time is specified, the internal date SHOULD be set in the | resulting message; otherwise, the internal date of the resulting | message is set to the current date and time by

Preliminary Suggestion For Atomic Transactions
In the past there's been a need to provide consistency between symbolic links or repository metadata during a sync. Currently, rsync renames files piecemeal. The attached patch (extremely ugly) attempts to resolve this by foregoing the rename step until the end. It adds a new option (if we didn't, ls might catch up). There are several issues to get over. The first big one in

maildir, zlib and mtime/internal date
On the wiki: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Zlib I think there should be a step 5.0. along the lines of "get and remember the original message file's mtime" And a step 5.4 like "Using the touch command or some other method, set the now compressed message's mtime back to the mtime of the original message file." To preserve the message's internal time in case

I didn't get this error with R 3.3.3. Apparently, file.mtime() is returning NA well applied to a directory, and
