Hello,
we did some research and we would like to try to write a Tcl/Tk wrapper
around rsync.
Tcl/Tk -
- is easy to write
- has nice GUI library
- is cross platform
- has several installers
Would somebody be interested to participate?
Our goal is -
To have a small Windows XP and OS X backup applications that allow the

new cross-platform basic-statistics GUI
Dear R-announce list members,
I've submitted a new package to CRAN, Rcmdr, which provides a
cross-platform basic-statistics GUI for R. Rcmdr is based on the tcltk
package and uses only standard Tk widgets. It therefore runs under Windows
if Tcl/Tk support is installed with R, although it requires the
single-document interface (SDI). I've tested Rcmdr with Windows and Red Hat
Linux;

I am looking for an open source Win/Mac GUI for rsync that will allow ordinary people to back up selected files/directories to a specially prepared for the purpose internet server.
Has anyone practical experience with this and some recommendations?
Thank you in advance,

need gui matrix editor: does R Core team have advice on how?
Dear R-devel:
Would R core team consider endorsing a graphical toolkit and trying to
facilitate development of little GUI tools?
I need a gui matrix editor for users that want to be able to write
matrices that are later used to simulate data. Instead of teaching
them to write a covariance matrix (for example, for mvtnorm), I want
to tell them run a function that pops up a table they can fill

Cross-platform GUI libraries with drag 'n drop IDEs
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86.
I am a programmer, relatively new to GNU/Linux and am looking for cross
platform GUI development, mainly for EL5 and Windows. I have found
wxWidgets so far. I prefer drag 'n drop programming IDEs, QT seems to
provide this for GNU/Linux, but it isn't free for Windows.
Does anyone know of any decent GUI cross-platform library for EL5 and
Windows with a drag 'n

why not a gui for rsync
I'm using rsync and I'm very glad, but, in some case, i'm not so happy.
Some people are backing up the data with rsync but they have a lot of files, more than 100000 and 20 Gb of data.
We are using batch files and the task scheduling system of windows.
It is difficult to see if the backup is well done, sometimes, they are error.
We try to make some gui, one in java, an other in c++

Installing one channel GUI
Hello,
I'm trying to install oneChannelGui on my computer. For this purpose, I've
tried to carefully follow the manual, and done the following:
1. I've installed the Affy power tools
2. I've installed TCL from
http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActiveTcl/ (by following the link at the
right side of the page, and installing activeTCL8.5.0.0)
Nonetheless, when I try running

RE: [R] GUI support from R
Hi Duncan,
I've been looking around at GUI toolkits to use with Python (and by
extension R). I initially tried Tk, but was disappointed because there is no
consistent set of high level widgets. I've subsequently done some looking
at QT, wxWindows, and GTK. QT is out because I am a *commercial* user, and
I don't want to have a license hassle. GTK seemed to have a lower level of

GUI component Margin on tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel
Dear gurus:
I have a question on how to configure the margin layout on tcl/tk GUI
objects like tkcanvas, tkframe or tktoplevel.
For example, if I want to leave a larger margin on the left side of the
GUI container, which one should I configure, the toplevel or tkcanvas or
tkframe?
top<-tktoplevel()
canvas<-tkcanvas(top, relief=, borderwidth=...)
I also find the documentation for all

Confusion regarding rsync vs. rsyncx
We currently do backup using rsync amongst Linux and Solaris machines.
Modulo an ACL issue that we had to patch, this is working extremely well.
But I want to add our OSX machines to the mix. This is, unfortunately,
leaving me confused about rsyncx.
I can do the normal thing from OSX using rsync. But the page for rsyncx
says - cryptically, in my ignorant opinion - that rsyncx adds support for
