the scenerio is there are three sub-nets 192.168.1.0 192.168.2.0 192.168.3.0 and there is a machine named CONNECTOR that acts as gateway for the above three subnets, which is also a DHCP server. samba server running on machine DEEPOFIX which is in subnet 192.168.1.0 acts as a domain controller for that subnet. question is whether the machine DEEPOFIX can act as a domain controller for all the

Apache, proxypass and REMOTE_USER
Hello, still trying to get things going. With proxypass the REMOTE_USER variable set by mod_auth_* is not passed to mongrel. I found another admin that has the same problem[1], but no solution. If you tried to *move* it it's an archive, not a backup. If you tried to *copy* it, with the intent of keeping the original on the original hard disk and using it

backing up email / saving maildir on external hard drives
Hi, talking of rsync and compression is may be also a bit misleading. On the destination there will be no compressed files if you transfer with rsync! The transfere on the network by rsync might be compressed! /G?tz Am 09.08.15 um 18:33 schrieb Kevin Laurie: > Dear Steve, > Very valuable info. backing up email / saving maildir on external hard drives
Dear Steve, Very valuable info. Appreciate it and will be careful when using terms. Actually I think I should just use rsync without compressing. The reason why I started compressing was because the GUI gave some errors when I was trying to copy then files. I'll just rsync the data from my laptop HDD to my external drive(without compressing) Thanks Kevin On Sunday, August 9, 2015, Steve

Controlling the dates in R;
Dear R gurus, I am currently using the chron package for date manipulation in R and I am able to control the date which take the format - 1998/07/03, and - 2006-09-15 (date without time) Library(chron) As.Date(2006-09-15, format = '%Y-%m-%d') However I have a problem with the date containing only the year and month (i.e. 2006-09, 2007/08, 200609).

doubt in climate variability analysis in R!
Hello all, I am trying to use "clim.pact" package for my work, but since this is the beginning for me to use gridded datasets in "R", I am having some trouble. I want to do seasonal analyses like trends, anomalies, variograms, EOF and probably kriging too to downscale my 1 degree gridded data to 0.5.  So, as a first step, I compiled my entire dataset (with 25

backing up email / saving maildir on external hard drives
Hello, Yesterday I tried to back up a 40GB maildir . I tried to move the maildir from home to external HDD but failed. Decided then to compress it(which took several hours). Now changing the disk format from FAT to exFAT to allow the transfer for the large compressed file. How does one back up emails on a external drive? Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question about fileNET
Hi, I've a question about a problem using a samba share in a UNIX AIX server. In my scenarious there is a fileNET server (running on a win2000 server) which use a samba share on a AIX sever for cacheing file, this share is configured for allow access to a particular user (pangol). It seams that user have access permission but an error is returned when fileNET try to write a file. Thanks in

changing printer device settings: changes not applied.
Hi, I'm using samba-2.2.1a on a Debian Linux box as a Debian package. It only serves as a printserver for about 35 printers which are all in /etc/printcap. Samba exports them all through the [printers] section in smb.conf. "guest ok = yes" for the [printers] The problem is as follows: - printadmin (having uid 0) logs onto the printserver using a win2k client - printadmin

I've been trying to upgrade from samba 3.4.5 to 3.5.x (currently 3.5.3) on a Ubuntu 9.10 system where I compile my own Samba. The server is a PDC for several win2000 clients and uses an LDAP backend hosted on the same machine. After the upgrade, clients can connect to shares but can not perform domain logons. 3.5.3 does not build a browse list of other domains on the subnet. Executing

Workaround: 3.4.5->3.5.3 breaks domain logons
I turned off server signing, and domain logons work now. On the server, I had set lanman auth = no ntlm auth = yes and the clients have Digitally sign client communication (when possible) Enabled Digitally sign server communication (when possible) Enabled LAN Manager Authentication Level Send NTLMv2 response only\refuse LM So my guess is that the samba update changes the

Power failure diagnosis?
This morning between 07:10 or so and 08:10 I discovered that my PC had shut itself off. I thought it was due to a power failure becuase I never turn it off without a good reason, and it had been running (and playing sounds) until it wasn't. My roommate/landlord tells me that the only anomaly he observed was that our router had lost its internet connection (via a cable modem, which was still
