Fstab mounting error
Hi all,
I've googled on this but no luck so far.
I'm using FC4. This works flawlessly:
Mount -t smbfs //host/share /var/mount/hostname/sharename -o
username=username,password=password,domain=DOMAIN,fmask=0777,dmask=0777
However, it fails in fstab when I do:
//host/share /var/mount/hostname/sharename smbfs
username=username,password=password,domain=DOMAIN,fmask=0777,dmask=0777 0 0

Trouble connecting to Samba shares set up under FC6
Hi list,
Having a problem connecting to a Samba server under Fedora Core 6. Every
time I try to connect, even from localhost, I get the message
NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME.
Samba config was done in the Redhat samba configuration tool (gnome).
I can connect with smbclient -L illuminatus -U <username> and get a list of
the shares. However when I try to connect with smbclient -U

Massive confusion with samba mounting
Hi,
I have a dilemma - here's some background:
Up until recently, a series of local scripts that run on our network ran on
a Mac OS X box. I would like to migrate these scripts to a Fedora Core 4 box
(for better perl, ruby, and pythoiin support), however, the scripts use
directories in the Appleshare network.
I have the /Volumes directory, in which OSX mounts the shares, shared via

Strange locking behaviour upsets Apache
We have a server which runs Samba and Apache. Web developers edit their
files (via Windows mapped drives) from Windows XP SP2. These files are
typically CGI files and the developers' routine is:
while (web page not quite right) {
1. Edit file
2. Save
3. Click Reload on web browser
4. Check results
}
They go around that loop many times during a typical development run.

Samba locking fails over NFS
Good day,
Our Windows users aren't able to edit their MS Office files over our Samba shares (Samba 3.0.10, CentOS4 w/ their i386 RPM). It looks like the clients' attempts to lock the files fails. When their client attempts to open such a file, Samba reports:

strange behaviour when using (conflicting) options -q --progress
-q seems to override -v completely, but when combined with --progress,
a single newline is output when there are no updates transferred; but if
a file *was* updated nothing at all is output.
It seems that there might be some short-circuited code when nothing is
trasferred, but that a check for quiet mode is skipped somehow.

dovecot dead but subsys locked
I'm running dovecot 20051026 version on Redhat4. I tried to do a stress
test. However dovecot dies after I login a few hundred users. I have
some error messages in my mail log and am not sure if they are related
to the problem.

File locks?
Hello,
Recently, the following problem started happening with a particular samba
server:
If i have a file open for reading (say, a pdf in xpdf) and then try to write
to it (say, through recompiling a latex document) it complains that it
cannot open the file for writing.
this seems like a file lock issue but I am unsure where it is happening. My
previous usage should be perfectly safe since

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a
couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users
told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly
sometimes.
I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags
related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to
be solved yet.

How to lock a user out?
Hi,
We are considering to migrate to Dovecot. We can running uw-imap and
have a local path which allow us to lock a user by creating a .lockdir
directory in the user home directory and put our warning message to
.lockdir/mbox. The locked user can still receive messages in ~/mbox. But
can not access any messages except ~/.lockdir/mbox. I wonder if Dovecot
has any similar feature which we can

NT PDC Rejecting Samba name registration
Looking for help on how I can convince my NT4 PDC to accept the name
registration of one of my Samba servers.
I have:
- PDC running NT 4 SP6
- Samba 2.2.8a on Solaris 8 Sparc which I am trying to have authenticate
against the PDC. This server is on a separate subnet connected by a VPN.
There is no port blocking in place and all the servers can talk to each
other quite happily

File Locking
First let me say that rsync is a wonderful program and thank you all for the hard work that went into it's creation. On to my question. I have a situation that requires the files that rsync is uploading/downloading to be locked. The reason is because it is possible to have more than one copy of rsync running and without file locking, the additional copies simply retry to upload/download a

DID in Western Canada
Hello,
I'm having trouble getting finding a company that
provides DID in Western Canada. More specifically in
Edmonton, Alberta.
We have tried getting in contact with Link2Voip and
Calgary Telecom but neither seems to be answering
their phones or email.
I would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the
right direction.
Thank you,

Disclaimer: Not trolling. Cross-posting to -users to gague support.
-users : Straw poll - if an XML based Manager Interface was avaliable as an

download problem: Windows binaries - patched/devel versions
Lately, I get a "page cannot be found" error (IE 6.0, Windows XP)
when I try to download the following:
http://cran.us.r-project.org/R-2.2.0pat-win32.exe
http://cran.us.r-project.org/R-2.3.0dev-win32.exe
(Same for all other mirrors (about 6) that I've tried.
Could someone please check if these files are accessible to them?
I'm guessing there's something haywire in my setup.

Maildir "locking"
Hello,
I'm looking for the alternative of qmail's chmod -t (sticky bit on the
maildir root) for Dovecot. What I'm trying to achieve with this lock:
- Dovecot lmtp should give back a temporary error (so the email will be
deferred and re-delivered later)
- all other Dovecot daemons (pop, imap) should work as usual, but should
not alter maildir contents (they can modify their own
