Permission problems running rsync as a Windows service
I've spent a long time searching the archives and
can't find a solution to my problem- apologies if I've

I've been running rsync absolutely fine for a couple
of months on Win2K server using Win2K & WinXP clients
with a 'regular' service installation using cygrunsrv
(below). It works excellently except that all the
files transferred by rsync have the

Owner and permissions problems when syncing w2k<->w2k
Hi!
I'm having a bit of a problem setting up an rsync
operation between two Windows 2000 servers. On one of
the machines I have started an rsync Daemon (service,
started as administrator) using the lines below.
On the other machine I do a
rsync -Pzrtvpo /cygdrive/d/root/Folder
administrator@192.168.2.4::root
What happens is that all transferred files (no problem
with the actual transfer)

"missing secret for user" using cygwin rsync on Windows XP Home
Hi,
I'm trying to set up rsync to allow me to backup a number of Windows machine to a Windows XP Home server using Nasbackup.
I can get rsync working fine but have been struggling for days to get user authentication working.

Hello, I am using rsync 2.5.5 protocol version 26 with cygwin 1.3.10-1.
When I connect to a directory that resides on the computer, everything works
great. When I connect to a directory that is a mapped UNC drive, rsync

Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6 over SSH hangs on Win2k->Win2k
When using Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6/OpenSSH 3.6.1 for copying files from
Win2k->Win2k, I get 2 or 3 hung processes on the receiving-side out of about
every 50 runs. These hung processes cause the system to be unable to
reboot(?!), requiring a hard reset. Killing the processes allows a graceful
reboot every time. I'm currently running both ssh and rsync as services on
the recieving side.

Linksys SPA 3102 causing me problems
I have a linksys SPA 3102 with a DECT phone connected into its Telephone
port.
It has been working, but something I've done (and I don't know what)
means that now everytime asterisk tries to dial it, it says it is busy.
I can make calls from it through asterisk
I am at a complete loss to know what to try next to fix it. Any ideas?

Transfering not working - how to debug?
I cannot seem to get any transfers to work at all. The console show I
have #1 amd #2 set up for Blind and Attended Transfer, but when I hit
these buttons on my handset nothing happens (other than I hear the dtmf
tones on the other end of the line).

Rsync hangs after a while when tunneling from A->B->C
Dear Rsyncians,
I'm trying to Rsync my windowsXP-pc A and C. There is a firewall in
between A and C, but we have a port open on a linux-machine B to access
C from A (and vica versa) via B.
When I now run my Rsync scripts in cygwin:

Rsync service on Win2k?
Hi all,
I'm trying to get rsync running on a Windows 2k box (my tape backup
server) to remotely
back up stuff from a few unix boxes. Not my favored constellation, but
there's not
much I can do about that.
I'm hoping someone could give me a quick tip or two on getting rsync working
as a Win2k service. I'm not real proficient with Win2k, so be gentle.

New issue with a New Vista Client - couldn't find service
Running a samba server version 3.0.7 on a FreeBSD box
Life has been fine with XP and so forth
I added a new vista workstation to my small network
Vista found my shares and I am able to access them with no jerking around
with authentication types or such as I use appropriate pw and user name to
log into the vista box.
Problem is vista is spamming my server, taking up >50% cpu

changing ip
I require some advice.
I've had samba running nicely for a couple of months, however I needed
to change the ip addresses for my network. Since changing the ip
addresses, whenever I start WinXp and log on it takes about 3-4 mins to
log on. Also when I try to browse using windows explorer I sometimes
have to wait 3-4mins, then I get the same delay when logging off.
If I use dos though and change

Help with unstack() function
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to understand the unstack() function but after struggling for
two days, I have given up. More specifically, I am trying the exercises at
the end of Chapter 1 of Data Analysis and Graphics Using R by Maindonald
and Braun, 2nd ed. Exercise 18 (p. 41) asks to unstack the Rabbit data frame
from the MASS package to get a certain data frame that is shown in the
exercise.

[PATCH] Add service dependency to network
Hi,
Cygwin only:
Under some circumstances, the sshd service gets accidentally started
*before* the network service has been started up. The reason that this
can happen is, that the sshd service gets installed without a dependency
to the network service in contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config so far.
The below patch fixes that by adding a dependency to the "tcpip" Windows
service. This
