binding/unbinding devices to vfio-pci
Alex,
I'm trying to think through how binding/unbinding of devices will
work with VFIO for platform devices and have a couple of questions
about how vfio-pci works.
When you bind a device to vfio-pci, e.g.:
# echo 1102 0002 > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/vfio-pci/new_id
...I understand that the echo into 'new_id' tells the
vfio pci driver that it now handles the specified PCI ID.

loading modules across reboots
I have a CentOS 5.2 install on a machine with the Marvell nic issue outlined in
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2612. I have a few questions regarding this, what
does the # echo "11ab 4364" > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/sky2/new_id line do? Obviously it
starts right after but what specifically is the "11ab 4364" part? Also, how do I get this
to load across reboots? I have the

Describing a "replaces" relationship within the same model
Hi!
I would like to describe the relationships between two objects of a
model, where one of the objects replaces the other. I want to be able
to tell if one object has been replaced and, if so, by what object; and
vice versa what object an object replaces, if any. My idea was the
following:
create_table :events do |t|
t.column :replacement_id, :integer
t.column :description, :text,

APC SmartUPS 2200XL + UDEV + USB = tcgetattr : Invalid argument
I need direction. I don't know what to google for anymore. I am unable
to get my SmartUPS 2200XL to be recognized. My suspicions are that it's
UDEV or Kernel related. I've updated the kernel to the highest version
I feel comfortable with due to other things that run on the server, and
I've updated UDEV a bit too.
When I plug in the USB cable from the UPS into the server, I

Help with GSM or CDMA hardware on CentOS and SMSTools question please
Hi everyone,
I would realy appreciate your help and guidense with a problem I have.
Im trying to set up a SMS Gateway as a alert system for my network.
Although the Aircard is picked up as a usb device and has a driver in
the kernel, it does not have a /dev/XXX device name. So my question is
how do I create this /dev/XXX device and make it persistent.

intel quad gigabit nic and pci passthrough
Hi all
I have a very weird case of pci passthrough.
I have a machine with 7 network interfaces, all of them intel. Four of them are on one quad giga ethernet device. If I manually unbind the devices and allow qemu to use them, with intel IOMMU working, everything works like a charm. Here's how I do it manually:
root@kybrat (x86_64) ~]$ lspci -nn | grep net

device-mapper multipath
I am attempting to get multipath working with device-mapper (CentOS
4.2 and 4.3). It works on EVERY install of mine from RH (also v4.2,
4.3), but the same multipath.conf imported to all my installs of
CentOS do not work. Note that I have tested a working 4.2
configuration file from RH on CentOS 4.2 and a working 4.3
configuration (it changed slightly) on CentOS 4.3. Neither worked. Our

Since i upgraded rsync to the last version all the rsync running through cron are failing, running the same command through SSH is working ok.
Wondering how could i troubleshoot it.
The cron line is:
