R timeDate does not allow seconds?
Hello, Sorry if anyone gets this message twice, as my mailserver may not
be working.
Thanks for your response. Your idea makes a lot of sense to me, but I've
been unable to get seconds to work.
I ended up with this format finally:
"2007-10-31_16:20:22"
Problem is I am unable to get it recognized as a date using timeDate():

rsync problem with ssh
Hi all,
I meet a problem with rsync when I used it to copy a large file from another
host, I typed like this,
rsync -az -e "ssh -l user" user@192.168.1.32:/usr/local/sql.gz /data/sql.gz
after I entered the password, It dose the job. But It would stop
transmitting file when it had finished about 80% of transfer. It would stop
there, doing nothing.
I don't know how to resolve this

[PATCH supermin] build: use a custom test driver
Use a custom test driver for running the tests: based on the test-driver
provided by automake, it adds the running time of the test in each .trs
file.

Bug#422618: logcheck-database: crontab should be /usr/bin/crontab
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.54
Severity: normal
Hello,
it seems crontab reports it's whole path in syslog :
May 6 16:00:03 eckmul /usr/bin/crontab[9722]: (root) LIST (nobody)
I don't have other messages from it in my logs, so I can't comment on
the other lines in /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/cron , but I had to
modify the LIST one with /usr/bin/crontab
Thanks,

cat cron jobs into crontab
Hi,
What's the best/safest way to "cat" the following job into crontab?
*/3 * * * * /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_megaraid_passive.sh >
/dev/null 2>&1
I am used to doing this manually via crontab -e, but now I simply have
too many centos servers to build in a given week (get to toss another
120K at some more 2U chenbro/tyan/amd64's -w000ooo).

Command not running in crontab
Hi,
Can anoyone tell me why this command is not executed (or it is without
success) from crontab, but works perfectly from the command line ?
(yes, i've restarted crontab service)
# clean up postmaster
00 30 * * * root /usr/bin/find
/var/qmail/maildirs/postmaster at telbit.pt/Maildir/new -type f -print0 |
xargs -0 -n 50 rm
The mind boggles...
Any help would be appreciated.

crontab - corrected version
So I want to see if there is a way to restrict crontab from running an
executable or anything else from a world-writable directory, or subdirectory
thereof.
Thanks.

crontab provider in 0.23.0
Hi,
I also met an error in crontabs:
Could not prefetch "NilClass"rovider crontab: undefined method `each''
for nil:NilClass
this is on freeBSD. 0.22.4 was working fine on the very same host. Any
idea ? The crontab binary is there but it seems puppet does not find
the right provider in this version ?

vixie crontab
Does anyone have any idea how to fix the vixie crontab root exploit under
Redhat 4.2? It seems to still exist. I have tried several methods to fix
this but I haven''t been able to succeed.

The vulnerability involves an unguarded sscanf call in env.c. Enlarging

Smbget 3.4.7 Permission Denied in Crontab, Not in Interactive Console Session?
Assembled Wisdom,
I was trying to help this poor guy on the intertubes who is having some
bizarre issues with running smbget (version 3.4.7) from a cron script?
Is there are some weird environment variables or something I am missing
that is off-limits to the sh in cron that prevents this from working?

Crontab script to check health of Asterisk server?
Has anybody created a crontab script to check the health of an Asterisk
server?
The part I'm struggling with is some sort of IAX "ping" to test the
connection to each provider without making a call.

I used the following command from the *command line* its *working* fine.
*/usr/bin/smbget -R smb://192.168.10.32/Data --username USER --password

Crontab Nobody
I have a crontab for Nobody. I tried to delete it in a root kcron, which I'm
sure is how I dealt with this in the past, but it seems impossible to delete.
Should I delete the file /var/spool/cron/nobody? It is owned root:root, perms
600.

CentOS 5.3 cron / crontab missing?
Hi On 6/10/09, James Bensley <jwbensley at gmail.com>
Hi all,
I don't know what exactly is causing this, but I can't find cron /
crontab on my CentOS 5.3 machine.
Yes, I know, it's an obvious one, install it. But, it is, according to rpm:
[root at zaxen01 ~]# rpm -aq | grep cron
anacron-2.3-45.el5.centos
crontabs-1.10-8
I have tried yum update crontabs, and then it said there

Bug with OpenSSH and Crontab under Solaris 8
Hi,
I have a issue with OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 and crontab (solaris 8). The crontab
will not execute correctly the commands if I edit it by using OpenSSH.
client (Solaris 8 / Openssh 3.7.1p2) ---> server (Solaris 8 / Openssh
3.7.1p2).
Next, I edit the crontab with "vi" using a console session and I save it
without doing modification. The crontab works perfectly now ! ?
I have
