winbind caused "ls -l" hang on solaris 8
Hi Guys
I compiled Samba 3.0.26a --with-ads and --with-winbind with krb5-1.6.2
and openldap-2.3.38 using
gcc version 3.4.6 on Solaris 8.
and added winbind in passwd entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf
passwd: files winbind
The problem is the entry "passwd: files winbind" in /etc/nsswitch.conf
caused "ls -l" and Samba hang.
If winbind is removed from nsswitch.conf, "ls

what is the recommended samba version on solaris?
Guys
I was so frustrated about installing samba with ADS and winbind support
on solaris 8.
After fixing many problems, I am now facing another problem:
I created a directory "test" in the samba share and was editing a file
under the directory "test" and in the meantime the machine was rebooted.
After the machine is started, the
whole directory "test" is gone.

Problem with rsync-cygwin between two WindowsXP machines
I hope this problem hasn't been posted before, I cannot find a way to
search the archives... I use rsync successfully between several Suse
9.1 machines at my work - never with any problem(s). I had to move my
email from an obscure mail client (that saves each message as a separate
file) to Mozilla mail (for security purposes). So, my "old" program
that I used to sync my mail

Software caused connection abort
Dears All,
I have used rsync on Cygwin for a long time to backup data on my WinXP
laptop to a NAS server. Several days ago I had a problem with my user
account on the Laptop and I needed to create a new account and delete
the old one.
Fortunately my data were on a separate partition (fat32) so I did not
lose anything.
Now when I try to use rsync again on the same data I always get the

Problem excluding directories on windows
Hi,
I'm using rsync 2.6.2 (and cygwin 1.5.10) for backups of my folders on
my PC. rsync cannot open two system subdirectories in my home
directory: "Program Files" and "System Volume Information". I tried
including them in the exclude-file, to no avail.
I suspect the problem may be the spaces in the directory names, but I
could find no reference to that. I have

Strange issue with Samba + LDAP + Domain Member
Hey,
I keep posting but no replies yet, this is a new issue, the rest I seem to
have fixed.
I have an odd issue:
* When I do net rpc join the PDC creates the account, and puts it into
LDAP, which looks fine.
* I then can access the domain and winbind works fine from the Domain
Member server.
* On the PDC I see the following error: "pdb_get_group_sid: Failed to
find Unix account

files names...I would like to use cwRsync, does my problem suggest this
is still happening and has not been addressed?

However, I have long file name issues using rsync 2.6.6 from a BSD
