some question about ''observer_field''
Is the observe_field (ActionView::Helpers::PrototypeHelper ) can be apply to any html tag? (such as div) I tried to apply ''observe_field'' to observe the content of <div> tag, but, as the observed <div>''s content was changed, there was nothing happend. for example (in test.rhtml): <%= link_to_remote "test", :update=>"content1",

Need help with file corruption issue
Hi all, I've run into an issue and am wondering if folks can give some advice on how to resolve it. Basically Samba appears to be getting confused, providing some other file's contents. Initially I saw this on a Windows host that has mounted a share from CentOs, but I've been able to repro it on the CentOs host using a self-mount. Here's my test script: #!/usr/bin/perl use

which gcc package?
Hello. I tried to compile a program (plugger), but I don't have *any* sort of compiler installed. This is on Cent5.3. So, I used Package Manager, concentrating on gcc. But, it seems that I have a choice, thus: gcc-4.1.2-46.el5.i386 gcc-4.1.2-46.el5_4.1.i386 gcc-4.1.2-46.el5_4.2.i386 gcc-c++-4.1.2-46.el5.i386 gcc-c++-4.1.2-46.el5_4.1.i386 gcc-c++-4.1.2-46.el5_4.2.i386 ... along with some

ogg123 and plugger
Hi. I'm trying to get plugger to work with ogg123 and it does - sort of. No matter what the song is, it plays 24 seconds of the song and then dies. Same spot every time - I've tried with a short song (Janis Joplin Mercedes Benz) and a long song (Cracker Eurotrash Girl). I have this as the mime identification in the plugger rc file: audio/ogg: ogg: Vorbis Ogg audio application/x-ogg: ogg:

fallback mount points?
hello all. I run a station which uses one primary mount to broadcast from. when DJs are not on air, we want to stream a playlist of music. I have a program taking care of that for us, but now I?m at a standstill. When our automation connects to our primary mount point no DJ can connect to broadcast. So, I?m assuming I need to work something out with a fallback mount point but don?t quite get how

Multiple ICES background daemons
Is there anyway to run multiple ices backgroud deamons and have more than one ices.pid file generated so that I can control each one seperately? I want to have mulitple ices streams running with different playlists and different stream names and control them using the signals. I start one ices process and it writes a file ices.pid to the /tmp directory and I can control it sy sending it

status of lib/swiotlb.c cleanups?
Hi Jan, I''m curious about the status of your patches to make lib/swiotlb.c more Xen friendly. The ia64 port is currently using the hacked up swiotlb in the i386 directory, and it''s making it difficult to enable machine vectors to support hardware iommus. From what I can gather, several of the smaller patches are now in upstream Linux, but the larger abstraction patch got

Memory limitations for parallel::mclapply
Hello, I have been having issues using parallel::mclapply in a memory-efficient way and would like some guidance. I am using a 40 core machine with 96 GB of RAM. I've tried to run mclapply with 20, 30, and 40 mc.cores and it has practically brought the machine to a standstill each time to the point where I do a hard reset. When running mclapply with 10 mc.cores, I can see that each process

How do you pronounce 'Ogg Vorbis'?
Greets, Every linux user that sets up a sound card using sndconfig heres Linus pronouncing "Linux" - I confess that's how I learned to pronounce it right, until then I prononced it 'l-EYE-nucks' - I was wondering - what's the correct pronounciation of 'Ogg Vorbis'? I pronounce it 'OOOg' (a long 'O' sound or a portuguese 'U' if you must

I?m currently doing a show until one my time, ending in about two hours. After that, you can call our radio station number. 325-480-1039 > On Nov 12, 2015, at 10:49 PM, Scott Winterstein <0turn1 at gmail.com> wrote: > > If you send me a landline number (cheaper for me on int calling im in Germany) I will call and see what I can do to help > > Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

fallback mount points?
Hi, I think I get what you?re saying with the separate setups thing. I would be totally fine with doing it all that way but am not quite sure how to set it all up. Any help would be very much appreciated here. I can?t say I know much about scripting. > On Nov 11, 2015, at 8:18 PM, Scott Winterstein <0turn1 at gmail.com> wrote: > > You have to setup a fallback type of setup. You

degraded performance under domain login load
Hi guys, Not sure how to diagnose this problem however i have recently upgraded one of my schools sites from gentoo to freebsd which moved us from samba 3.0.14 to 3.0.21b and the first thing I noticed was when the students came to login if they all logged in at once the performance of login was crippled to a near standstill! As a test i swapped in the gentoo box and forced the upgrade to

Significant performance problems
Hi all, I'm sure my issues are a result of misconfiguration, but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm getting pressure to move us back to GroupWise, which I desperately want to avoid :-/ We're running dovecot 1.2.9 on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS+postfix. The server is a VM with 1 vCPU and 4GB of RAM. We serve about 10,000 users with anywhere from 500-1000 logged in

RPC, DCOM, 1745 and Other Errors
I am evaluating Samba 4 as a replacement for our existing Windows 2003 servers, as the cost to license 2008 and CALS is not going to be in my companies budget. Bear with me, as I have some basic experience with Linux and know a few things, I am by no means a fully trained Linux or Samba Jedi. My test environment goal is to have two Active Directory Domain Controllers and one Member Server with

YMMV, but I think when I tried this with buildbot 250 was the largest I could get per build, no matter how many I told it to keep. page allocation failure. order:0, mode:0x50
Just because I've been pulling my hair out for over a month about this problem, I'd like to get it into the archives. When copying large files (multigigabyte) on a CentOS 4.4 4GB Xeon (running 32 bit) server (2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp), I was getting: page allocation failure. order:0, mode:0x50 (snip lines and lines of debug output) This was accompanied by a huge swapout storm that brought
