Cygwin build fails because headers no longer default to Solaris ACL
Unfortunately I don't know how to write AC macros to properly solve this problem but Cygwin does not (any longer) include cygwin/acl.h from sys/acls.h which is required for Solaris ACL data structures to work. So the CASE statement improperly short-circuits the logic.
I have confirmed that Rsync builds using POSIX ACLs but haven't tested said functionality.

roaming profiles - filesyncing problem with 3.0.10
Since I upgraded from RedHat 9.0b / Samba 2.2.8 to Samba 3.0.10 I have problems with the roaming profiles of my students. Although the log-files show no errors at all, several users reports me that they are loosing files. One time I saw the problem myself, when a user logged in and had not a single file in her 'Personal Files' after logging out and logging in on the same host the whole

[PATCH 0/3] tftp-hpa patches from Debian
From: Ron <ron at debian.org>
Hi,
I've just taken over maintaining the packages for this in Debian,
and we've been carrying a couple of patches for a while now that
really should have been forwarded since they're clearly not distro
specific. I added a third one to that yesterday to fix another
autoconf build 'race' seen when doing parallel builds.
Cheers,
Ron

Errors building 3.6.25 after applying security patches
Hi,
I'm attempting to build 3.6.25 after applying the 16-Dec-2015 and the
12-Apr-2016 patches from samba.org but I'm seeing two issues. First during
autogen.sh I see:
/build/samba/samba-3.6.25/source3 # ./autogen.sh
./autogen.sh: running script/mkversion.sh
./script/mkversion.sh: 'include/version.h' created for Samba("3.6.25")

Strange entry inthe log when using encrypted passwords
Hello,
I want to set up my Samba-servers to use encrypted passwords (smbpasswd).
First I enabled "Update Encrypted" to set the correct password and then I
disabled "Update encrypted" and enabled "encrypted passwords".
When I map up a share from the client everything is working ok, but in the
log I have the following:
[1999/11/09 21:37:10, 1] smbd/password.c:(532)

Process build properly after applying patchs to 3.0.20
Hi,
I am trying to test some patches that have been made post 3.0.20. I
have Samba 3.0.20 src installed. I have applied two patches from SVN
(9484, 9481).
I have run autoconf. Poking around after "configure", I discovered I
needed to run "autoheader" as well. This is fine, but I am wondering if
I have missed any other steps?
My steps...

Contributing to Xapian
I use Ubuntu12.04, GNU Make 3.81 and I am not sure if I use some special
configure options. The commands I use after clone the repo are as follows:
cd xapian
./bootstarp
./configure
make
cd xapian-letor
aclocal -I ../xapian-core/m4
libtoolize --force
autoconf
autoheader
automake --add-missing
./configure
make
Is this normal?

NUT and Automake
Dear NUT developers,
I have converted NUT's build system to Automake/Libtool. Right now,
the new build system is contained in the "automake" branch, at:
ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/nut/branches/automake
I plan to merge this into the main branch after a period of testing,
if there are no objections.
Here are some highlights:
* automatic dependency tracking: no more need to do this

[LLVMdev] include/Config/config.h discrepancies between CMake and autofoo builds
Hello. I see many discrepancies in config.h file generated by CMake and
autoheader.
Most of them are following:
In autofoo-generated config:
> /* Define to 1 if you have the `<name>' function. */
> #define HAVE_<name> 1
>
but in CMake-generated:
> #undef HAVE_<name>

This happens because in config.h.cmake (config.h.in analog) these functions
just are not

Rsync acl patch 1.113 compilation problems on cygwin
Hi,
Recently, there have been some fundamental achievements regarding
acl-support on the cygwin platform. I thought that it would be convenient to
offer an acl-patch enabled rsync as a part of the cwrsync package (a yet
another minimalist rsync on cygwin solution). I get some compilation errors.
What I did:
- Downloaded acl patch v1.113 from rsync site
- Run commands below In the rsync source

autoheader/config.h.in for vorbis
Hi Thomas,
You checked in a changeset a while ago which added
autoheader/config.h.in support here:
http://trac.xiph.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/changeset/7481
But this seemed to break the Vorbis build, presumably because there's no
config.h.in file there. Did you forget to check it in, or is there
something I'm missing? I've semi-reverted your change in a recent
patch, so that
