DES, eBones and crypt availble for non-US!
Hello World! (In particular, that part of it ouside the USA and Canada) I have (with official sanction of the organisation concerned) a LEGAL site for the distribution of crypt and Kerberos code. The secure code (crypt) is _identical_ to the US code. It originated in South Africa and Australia, and has never been to the US, so it is totally kosher. The Kerberos (eBones actually) code stared out

Incorporating code from sftp-glob.c into lftp
As you might know, LFTP is a popular FTP/SFTP command-line client for most systems. One feature that is lacking from this tool is the ability to do a globbed ls via sftp. I have a patch ready for LFTP that incorporates some of the knowledge [like oddball systems glob() handling] and some of the code from sftp-glob.c for this tool to add this capability. I do, however, have some questions about

Copying root partition
I recently transferred the / partition on my CentOS server from a small disk to a large disk, using "rsync -auvz". This works fine, except that I get dozens of selinux warnings when I re-boot. I'm running selinux in permissive mode. Is there any way to make sure that all the files in a partition are kosher as far as selinux is concerned? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/

[LLVMdev] VIM mode line comments
Is it kosher to include vim mode line comments inside of LLVM source files? I would like to do this inside of the MicroBlaze backend to ensure that tabs are expanded into exactly two spaces. I see that right now the following files have these vim mode line comments: include/llvm/ADT/SetVector.h lib/Archive/ArchiveInternals.h lib/Linker/LinkModules.cpp lib/Transforms/IPO/DeadTypeElimination.cpp

Right before instcombine, we have this: %r60 = load <2 x i64>* %"$LCS_1", align 16 ; <<2

win.metafile and Linux
Hi Folks, I see that people have been discussing the win.metafile device on the list since before 2000. Yet I have never seen this on a Linux distribution of R. Is this because the device works by making calls (GPL calls of course!) to a proprietary Windows library? In that case I can understand that it would be far from kosher to implement it on Linux. But I'd like confirmation. I must

Adding lines to xyplot with abline
Is it kosher to add, say, horizontal lines to a lattice xyplot using abline(h=xxx)? The lines don't appear at the right value, that is, if h=150, the line might appear at h=140? smb.conf(5) and winbind nss info
According to the smb.conf man page in samba 3.0.28a, the only two legal settings for 'winbind nss info' are 'template' and 'sfu': ---8<--- winbind nss info (G) This parameter is designed to control how Winbind retrieves Name Service Information to construct a user's home directory and login shell. R code
Hi everybody, I am unable to resolve this error using the following for loop. Would appreciate help. The same loop works with for(i in 1:92) strangely. I checked the .raw input file and everything is kosher, even Line 547 mentioned in the error message. I wonder if there is any problem with the paste function. Thanks very much in advance. ********************** for(i in 1:93) { inputdta<-

Sobel's test for mediation and lme4/nlme
Hello, Any advice or pointers for implementing Sobel's test for mediation in 2-level model setting? For fitting the hierarchical models, I am using "lme4" but could also revert to "nlme" since it is a relatively simple varying intercept model and they yield identical estimates. I apologize for this is an R question with an embedded statistical question. I noticed that a

[LLVMdev] ARMCodeEmitter vs ARMMCCodeEmitter (ARM relocations for ELF)
Hi everyone, I am getting into the ARM specific relocation for MC/ELF, and have some questions There are some x86/arm specific relocation values already, before they are lowered down to ELF reloc types (i.e. ARMRelocations.h and X86Relocations.h) As near as I can figure it, the relocation constants in (ARM|X86)Relocations.h are used only in ARMCodeEmitter, and X86CodeEmitter.cpp respectively -

[Flac-users] How do I encode a FLAC with tags?
Ok so I can use any ID3v2 or v1 tagger (say the perl one) for FLAC files and things will be kosher? I'd LOVE to be able roll my own tagging scheme like you can in Vorbis and I don't mind doing some code either..I wasn't aware that FLAC was able to do that..or at least I didn't userstand how to do that. I guess that is where you register for your own developer ID eh? Josh

Slightly off topic: nifty side affects...
I''m curious if anybody else has seen this behavior.... Right now I have puppetd making sure that NFS and NTP services are running across a group of hosts, and if for some reason those services are not running, puppet will happily start them up for me. The catch is, in my environment we''re pushing towards IPv6 except for customer facing equipment. So when puppet comes along and

routes on windows "guests/clients"
In this exercise, I'm on a remote computer (work, laptop at starbucks, whatever) and want to get to my entire home network. The remote computer is running Windows 7. Everything is working. I can access everything in my home network. (I put a static route in my router for the node running tinc) - But on the remote computer(s) I am having to put a route statement in. Home network is

A thank you and question about the cortado jar
I'm not sure this belongs on a developer list but I did not see a more appropriate list. First question about cortado jar. I'm developing a php blog application (yes, yet another blog, I have my reasons) that will allow embedding ogg files via the html 5 media tags with fall back to cortado. I'd rather not package the jar file with the app, instead preferring to point to the jar
