Cannot chown file to active directory user/group on member server
Hi, I need to change ownership of server files to user/group defined in active directory ( using rfc2307 and unix attributes). Chown returns no error, but 'ls -lia' shows that file ownership is unchanged. What am I doing wrong? archive-test:/archive/video # ls -lia ./test.mp4 17121 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2413096 ноя 2 19:50 ./test.mp4 archive-test:/archive/video # wbinfo -u

remove-sent-files
Hi all, wouldn't it be much more comfortable if rsync would delete every sent file just after completing the single file transfer? Thus one could transfer files that could be processed by the receiver and there get moved or deleted avter processing. With large directories and e.g. wireless connections rsync connection could break up and could be restarted without the possibility to

loosening voicemail file permissions for msg????.txt and msg????.wav
HI folks, I figured out where in the source code to hack the .wav file permissions which were set too restrictive for me, but I can't figure out how to do the same for the .txt file. Looks like the voicemail.c file sets it nicely for asterisk1.4beta3 using a #define statement early on, but msg????.txt comes out with permissions 0600 and there are no umask entries that affect how

NFS mounts with puppet creates error
Hi group, I am managing an NFS mount with puppet. And it does not work, and seriously I really don''t see how this can work out nicely. First I make sure with a file {} class that the directory I want to mount exists. Cause it is used by the webserver it should belong to the wwwrun/www group on the system. No prob. Then I mount the NFS share on the dir. No prob. On the 2nd run of

chmod / chown settings on /var/www/html
I'm setting up a new CentOS 4.4 server to work with Fruity (a frontend program that operates Nagios). For security purposes, what chmod and chown settings do you put on the /var/www/html folders? Also, can anyone recommend any good LAMP hardening guides? While I'm not planning on putting this into production, I'd like to cover all my bases before that's an issue. --------------

nfs-server in centos 7 - no error message from chown/chmod commands on clients
Hi, we are using centos 7 as an nfs-server. Chown / chmod on all linux clients (RH5,6, Ubuntu 14.04) don't get any errors from unallowed chown/chmod commands. Return-code is 0. e.g. ls -al test.txt -rwxrwxr-x 1 sanderso users 0 26. Jan 15:09 test.txt chown otheruser test.txt echo $? 0 ls -al test.txt -rwxrwxr-x 1 sanderso users 0 26. chmod and chown
Hello guys, does anyone of you have problems with chown and chmod operations taking extremely long time to complete. For example chown on 200 MB folder is taking minutes. The MDS is not loaded at all. All other operations (file read and write) seem to be doing fine. Any help is greatly appreciated. _______________________________________________ Lustre-discuss mailing list

Tunneling in capistrano twice
Hi there, The default recipe expects you to be able to access your web server directly from your local machine. On our web server, for security purposes, it is only possible to ssh to it through one particular ip (which is also a remote machine.) The capistrano source is so compact and tidy it looks very hackable. But rather than messing around I thought I''d ask first if anyone else
