Implemented "--exclude-old" in rsync
Hi, I'm using rsync to keep several file servers in sync. Uploads to the data can be placed at any time on any server. I'm using the extended N-way backup, following the example from the two way backup in the FAQ: rsync --archive --update rsync::first/files files (on second, third) rsync --archive --update rsync::second/files files (on first, third) rsync --archive --update

MS Excel/NT/Samba timestamp - serious problem, bug?
A rather distressing timestamp issue (to multiple users here). Anyone seen similar behavior or have a suggestion/solution? Problem: Opening and closing an excel file (no changes/keystrokes to file) on the Samba server causes the file to be saved with time stamp of closing. (There is no autosave set on Excel - also see other info below) MS Excel 97 SR-2 NT 4.0 SP5 Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 (2

Samba 2.0.6, MKS' touch.exe, and file/dir time stamps
Hello all, we are experiencing problems with samba 2.0.6 and the MKS touch command. during our builds, we touch files and directories so that our make dependencies work correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that MKS' touch.exe doesn't actually change the time stamp of a file or directory. The command returns without an error, but the timestamp does not change. The same problem exists

One tiny Windows Unicode patch
I have been doing some heavy testing with the new FLAC version, and I found that CreateFile function in grabbag had been left out of UTF-8 treatment at some point. This causes re-encoding an existing flac to the same name to break the file if it contains non-ascii characters. Attached patch fixes this. -------------- next part -------------- diff --git a/include/share/win_utf8_io.h

samba-2.0.7pre2 and file timestamps
I just installed 2.0.7pre2 on a test system. The file "touch" problem from 2.0.6 seems to be back. Running various utilities called "touch" do not successfully update file timestamps on a filesystem provided by 2.0.7pre2. I actually prefer THIS incorrect behavior over the behavior I've seen after this bug is "fixed". The bugfix posted by Paul Eggert for 2.0.6

Hi Sorry about the misplaced Q I tried to use a script that when user will logon to the machine he will mount to smb mount (instead of fstab if it's problem) I sow on several places the option to use on /etc/fstab this line //server/share /mnt/home smbfs noauto, user 0 0 and I tried to put on script smbmount //server/share /mnt/home -o username=$USER and get libsmb based programs

hardlinks not working with inode number > 2^31
I've been using 3.0.0pre8 to move a Debian archive from one filesystem to another. This archive contains a daily snapshot of the Debian ftp site, with common files hardlinked to save space. I noticed that it was using far more space than necessary. Upon investigation it seems that all the source files that have inode numbers greater than 2^31 aren't being hardlinked together at the

Dovecot/Pigeonhole Issue (UTC modtime instead of localtime)
Hi List, We are using the following setup: Dovecot-2.2.18 Pigeonhole-0.4.8 (for Dovecot-2.2) After the mail is finally delivered via a fileinto by the Sieve filter it gets an updated timestamp (modification time). The server has localtime setup correctly IMO (UTC +0200), but still the delivered mail is setup as being two hours old. I think I found out that the function

rsync-2.6.2: NFS clients confused after an rsync
We use rsync to update an nfs server. After an update, we noticed that a large number of clients didn't see the updated data. It took me a while to be able to reliably reproduce this problem, but it happens on old and new versions of rysnc. It also happens across all the platforms we use here (sun/linux/netapp). This shows the problem: [Note my home directory is NFS mounted]

Cygwin/rsync Hang Problem Testing Results
People of cygwin & rsync, I recently attempted to get cygwin and rsync working to solve a backup/mirroring need in my computer life. Well, as you might guess, I ran into a little but of trouble. Strangely enough, rsync seemed to be regularly hanging when I attempted to do a "get" (sycronize a remote to a local dir). Well, considering I want to automate this, that was not going

re: help with voicepulse connect IAX2
hello, after playing with an asterisk configuration for voip for a few weeks i'm trying to get outbound dialing with voicepulse going - i've cut down the asterisk to a very minimal install (1 SIP client) to try to localize the problem. The SIP client works fine (SIP and * on the same NAT) and could access the demo from samples before i removed it, and can call itself - so i am
