grid.cap() requires more time?
Dear all, I am puzzled by the following behavior of the new grid.cap() function, which appears to run out of time when capturing the output of a graphic. It works fine if I introduce a Sys.sleep(1) before executing more code, library(grid) quartz() grid.circle(gp=gpar(fill="black")) gg <- grid.cap() dev.new() grid.raster(gg) ## completely blank gg[gg!="white"] ## indeed

grid stringHeight
Dear all, I'm puzzled by the behavior of stringHeight in the grid package. Consider the following test, library(grid) test <- function(lab="dog", ...){ g1 <- textGrob(lab) g2 <- rectGrob(height=grobHeight(g1), width=grobWidth(g1)) gg <- gTree(children=gList(g1,g2), ...) print(c("height:", convertUnit(stringHeight(lab), "mm",

3.7.1P2, PermitRootLogin and PAM with hidden NISplus passwor ds
It works for the "yes" case but not for the "without-password" case. The function that checks (auth_root_allowed(auth_method) is special cased for "password". The Pam case sends "keyboard-interactive/pam" which like all other authentication methods except password succeeds. Here is a patch to make it work for me. Please feel free to criticize as

Fedora change that will probably affect RHEL

As far as I know, PermitRootLogin has not been set to "no" by default. At least, I've never seen that on a system I've installed. Am I missing something?

fedoostrap or deboostrap requirement
Hi, While trying to ./configure libguestfs on gentoo fails since it requires feboostrap or deboostrap Can this be made optional and not as necessary requirement, since there are still many useful uses for libguestfs besides bootstrapping, which can be used on distros like gentoo. Thanks Alex

Confusion using "functions to access the function call stack" example section
I was going through the example below which is taken from the example section in the R documentation for accessing the function call stack. I am confused and I have 3 questions that I was hoping someone could answer. 1) why is y equal to zero even though the call was done with gg(3) 2) what does parents are 0,1,2,0,4,5,6,7 mean ? I understand what a parent frame is but how do the #'s relate

Assignment to string
The documentation for assignment says: In all the assignment operator expressions, 'x' can be a name or an expression defining a part of an object to be replaced (e.g., 'z[[1]]'). A syntactic name does not need to be quoted, though it can be (preferably by backticks). But the implementation allows assignment to a character string (i.e. not a name), which it

Passwordless ssh
On Mac OS, in order to allow ssh using dsa keys, I would copy ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub from my machine into ~/.ssh/authorized_keys of the target machine. I've created .ssh directories in my account home as well as in /root and copied the respective keys to authorized_keys files in each. Strangely, I can now ssh as root with no password but my own user account still prompts for a password. What
