[Bug 3244] crash with large directories
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3244 ------- Additional Comments From dan1@edenpics.com 2005-11-06 11:33 ------- Regarding last report, here is some more information about that bug: I tried to increase the limits with ulimit before running Rsync to the following values, but the problem is still the same and the failure remains at the exact same line. Here are the limits I used:

Non-clean Rsync 3.0.3 exit on OSX
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've compiled rsync 3.0.3 on OSX 10.4 PPC via the plain jane ./configure; make method (no patches). The resulting binary has then been moved to /usr/local/bin/rsync3 and copied to a OSX 10.5.4 Intel client machine as rsync3. I then run the following command: rsync3 -vvv -e ssh -avAX --progress --delete -

binding/unbinding devices to vfio-pci
Alex, I'm trying to think through how binding/unbinding of devices will work with VFIO for platform devices and have a couple of questions about how vfio-pci works. When you bind a device to vfio-pci, e.g.: # echo 1102 0002 > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/vfio-pci/new_id ...I understand that the echo into 'new_id' tells the vfio pci driver that it now handles the specified PCI ID. But

sendmail refusing incoming connections from outside
Hello. I am scratching my head about sendmail for a simple thing: I have a CentOS 4 box on which I would like to receive e-mails. when I type 'telnet localhost 25' I can connect successfully to the sendmail service. Now if I type: 'telnet 192.168.0.30 25' on the same host the connection is refused. It also refuses connections from another host. I have edited the

Symlink file syncing issue
Hi! I've been attempting to use rsync to sync a set of files between my laptop and my desktop. I've tried using google to search the archives, but didn't find anything that addressed this issue exactly... First of all, here are the details of how I have things set up. Server acting as the intermediary: OS: Mac OS X Server 10.3 rsync: 2.6.2 Laptop: OS: Mac OS X 10.3.6 rsync: 2.6.2

loading modules across reboots
I have a CentOS 5.2 install on a machine with the Marvell nic issue outlined in http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2612. I have a few questions regarding this, what does the # echo "11ab 4364" > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/sky2/new_id line do? Obviously it starts right after but what specifically is the "11ab 4364" part? Also, how do I get this to load across reboots? I have the

rsync question
Hi All, I am trying to understand the purpose of rsyncd. Why does it exist? Why not just use rsync ad-hoc or via script? Also, to a more serious note. I need to keep a filesystem on 1 server and another server synced by. What is the best way to do this? I want to have /source and /target to be exactly the same. I don't want any extra files in /target. I want the timestamps to be the exact

Public mirror synchronization failing
Hello, Our CentOS public mirror synchronization is failing since yesterday, with the log files showing the following "Permission denied" messages. It seems that my server is not able to access some of the files; any leads on to how to resolve it? rsync: send_files failed to open "/7.4.1708/atomic/x86_64/repo/tmp/tmp.3PYmPD" (in centos): Permission denied (13) rsync:

rsync 2.6.4 - directory always updated
Hi, I'm trying to figure out why when I do an rsync (Solaris, version 2.6.4 on both sides) from a site on the West Coast of the US to a site on the East coast, I keep getting directories updated when I use the command like this: # rsync -ar -v -v -i -O --force --delete --exclude=.snapshot --stats \ src:/sysic/lib/freedomlib_V100/ /sysic/lib/freedomlib_V100/ And I get output like this,

--partial does not "unhide" the files
Hi, I used --partial to transfer files from my local computer (rsync 3.1.2, Debian) to a remote computer (rsync 3.1.1 WD MyPassport Storage device) The files get transferred, but after successful transfer, the files are not renamed from .<tmpfile> to <file>. Where to go next? Here is the verbose output after transferring an empty file heiko at blade:~/Pictures$ rsync

General speed question
We have some speed/performance issues: We have a 100M fullduplex private network setup to handle rsync transfers to our "mirror" server with a command like: time rsync -e ssh -avzl --delete --rsync-path=/usr/local/bin/rsync \ --exclude ".netscape/cache/" --delete-excluded \ bigserver:/staff1 /mirror/bigserver It takes about 20 minutes to check/transfer files from

send_files failed to open filename ...
Hi everybody, I'm mirroring some websites with rsync (daemon on the source), and I noticed in the destination host some error messages 'send_files failed to open filenames', Actually, the concerned files are deleted on the source host, but I would like to ask : * why does rsync say these (in which phase) ? * is these messages harmful or not ? Here below my rsync command and some

hardlinks not working with inode number > 2^31
I've been using 3.0.0pre8 to move a Debian archive from one filesystem to another. This archive contains a daily snapshot of the Debian ftp site, with common files hardlinked to save space. I noticed that it was using far more space than necessary. Upon investigation it seems that all the source files that have inode numbers greater than 2^31 aren't being hardlinked together at the

Describing a "replaces" relationship within the same model
Hi! I would like to describe the relationships between two objects of a model, where one of the objects replaces the other. I want to be able to tell if one object has been replaced and, if so, by what object; and vice versa what object an object replaces, if any. My idea was the following: create_table :events do |t| t.column :replacement_id, :integer t.column :description, :text,
