State of the Breezy
What''s the current state of Rails installation on a fresh Ubuntu Breezy? I''ve just set up a laptop with a fresh installation, and tried to install ruby et al, and got nowhere fast. The default ruby is 1.8.3, and compiling the source for 1.8.4 leaves the rubygems setup.rb breaking unable to find zlib (and yes, I have checked for zlib1g-dev and readline). Is there a known

Diffrerence in "%in%" function to boundry setting via <>
Hi, There is a point which is irritating me currently quite a bit and that is an aspect of different behaviour between the %in% function and the smaller/bigger than signs (<>). Here is are two examples to demonstrate what I mean: Example1: > c(1,1,2,2,3,4,4,6,7) %in% c(1,2,3) [1] TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE Right, that is what I expect. Example2: > ps

Update or not?
After reading all the problems with the x86-64 update, I'm in a quandry as to update this machine or not. Nothing that I am aware of is broken, and at least everything I use works. This is NOT a production machine, but it does have some important software that needs to run twice daily, and I sure don't want to break things for that. If upgrade is not necessary, how do I go about

ZPool and Filesystem Sizing - Best Practices?
Hello, We have a new Thor here with 24TB of disk in (first of many, hopefully). We are trying to determine the bext practices with respect to file system management and sizing. Previously, we have tried to keep each file system to a max size of 500GB to make sure we could fit it all on a single tape, and to minimise restore times and impact should we experience some kind of volume

File size limit of 2Gb ish ?
Hi all, I am running samba 3.0.14 on ubuntu breezy badger networked with another ubuntu machine and my XP laptop. File sharing is great except when a file exceeds 1.5 - 2 GB. The file transfer fails after 1.5 - 2 GB with a file to large error. This seems to be a limit for linux - windows and linux - linux which is a pain when trying to move large DVD iso's. Does anyone know a

Very poor VMX performance
After several days of problems, I finally got Xen 3.0.1 set up in Ubuntu Breezy with the 2.6.12 kernel on a VT-enabled system with an Intel 930 processor and 2GB of memory. I have been able to install an unmodified guest without any issues other than performance. The guest runs extremely slowly and the mouse and keyboard are all but useless because of the extreme lag.
