Strange 'find' misbehaviour
Hi,
I just found out something strange. Try it out for yourselves. Here
goes. Search for any directories under /boot:
# find /boot/ -type d
/boot/
/boot/grub
/boot/lost+found
So far so good. Now execute a detailed listing on the results:
# find /boot/ -type d -exec ls -l \{} \;
total 6203

HELP, I accidentally initialized my /boot partition
So I installed a second drive in my system today, and instead of
typing "mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1" I did a "mkfs.ext3 /dev/hda1".
Fortunately, that was just my /boot partition. I thought I could
just copy the contents from the /boot partition from another system,
but that didn't work as expected. The again, I don't have another
system that's identical to the

[PATCH 0 of 3 v2] PV-GRUB: add support for ext4 and btrfs
Hi,
The following patches add support for ext4 and btrfs to
PV-GRUB. These patches are taken nearly verbatim from those provided
by Fedora and Gentoo.
We''ve been using these patches for the PV-GRUB images available in EC2
for some time now with no problems.
Changes from v1:
- Makefile has been changed to check the exit code from patch
- The btrfs patch has been rebased to apply

[Newbie] Reclaiming /boot space
When trying to do a yum update, I am told I need more space in
/boot. When I check the contents of /boot (ls -l /boot), there
are no files.
If I do a df -h, there is no available space yet it shows that it
has a lot of used space.
The fstab shows the following:

Hello,
I''m trying to get puppet-dashboard installed on a CentOS 6.3 machine
running puppet v3.0.1.
I''m following the puppet-dashboard documentation here:

In the documentation page linked above, it says:
Puppet uses SSL certificates to control who can make requests to the puppet

install.packages umask configuration
Hello,
I've been trying to setup a site library that allows the users to manage
the R packages themselves, but am having an issue with permissions. As
seen below, when installing a package using install.packages, the umask
used is always 022. Instead, I would like it to be 002, allowing any user
to update packages that were installed by another user. Can someone
explain how to get

Weird folders / files after upgrading to Samba 4.20
Hallo,
yes this is an "ls -lAh" on the samba fileserver side in the
corresponding directory.
Downgrading to 4.19 does not remove the weird directories and files. But
it prevents new weird ones being created...
Looking at the timestamps these seem to be created when (heavy?)
filesystem operations are being done. There is a cronjob that imports
images at 1oo and it runs for around

Hi guys:
First post for me on this list.
THE PROBLEM
===========
I have several linux servers (ranging from Redhat 7.3 to FC3) that use Rsync (version 2.6.8 and 2.6.7, read on for reasons) to backup their data. A typical rsync backup script looks like this:

Improving xen-qemu-dm-4.0 dependencies
Hi,
When I first built my Debian package, I needed to depend on qemu-system
| qemu, since there was no other ways to pull needed BIOS files.
It seems the situation changed, and that I could depend on less stuff
from the qemu package. Maybe only the package named "etherboot" and
"vgabios". To do that, my plan is to simply package a folder named:
