Mail notification in panel/system tray on CentOS 6
Hi.
Does anyone know of a way to add a "new mail" notification icon to the
panel/system tray under CentOS 6?
On CentOS 5, I used the "mail-notification" software package provided by
the Fedora "EPEL" distribution, but this is gone from the version 6
repository, and the one from version 5 won't install just like that due
to dependency issues. Maybe it's

Disk space warning ("gdu-notification-daemon" type) for remote systems
//Hi,/
/I need to implement a system of disk space checks and warnings for a
client-server setup running CentOS 6. Simply put, I just want a warning
popup rather like the ones given by gdu-notification-daemon when server
file system is full or nearly full, but they should appear on the client
display(s) rather than locally, and must also work when nobody is logged
directly in to the (server)

Official Announce List Notification
As you will know from recent posts, CentOS is separating from cAos to
become an independent project. As part of that change we are
implementing new mailing lists.
The new Announce List is now active. All Errata, release announcements
and the like will only be posted to the announce list. Once a day, a
digest of the Announce List will be posted to the main CentOS list.

hard links and schg flags.
I am (attempting to) implement an rsync method for distributing updates
from a FreeBSD master server to several 'slave' servers. In addition to
keeping certain userland files up to date it I also want it to keep the
OS up to date.
I've run into a problem that I do not know how to fix. When I run the
following command:
rsync -aHXA --fileflags --force-change --no-inc-recursive

List access to rsyncd.conf modules
I've seen this question asked in the archives, but not really answered.
I would like to limit the rsync operation to modules listed in the
rsyncd.conf file and hence disallow any command line syncs.
Is there any way of doing this?
Thanks in advance
regards,
Dal

samba start issues after classic upgrade
Hello,
Just completed a classic upgrade on a new server. NT4 style PDC was
running 4.6.5, new server running 4.13.0 (Debian Buster compiled from
source)
Classic Upgrade process seemed to go fine with one caveat, not sure if
it means anything - the wiki shows the upgrade process ending with:

new mailing list for Alioth tracker notifications
Everyone,
I think we have most of the kinks worked out of the new Alioth tracker
notification mailing list:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/nut-tracker
List membership is open to all.
For tracker items that you have submitted yourself, nothing has
changed - you will still receive email updates when someone comments
on your bug/feature/patch (or otherwise changes the tracker

Notification of file modification in subdirectories not working
Hi Volker
Thanks for reply.
managed to capture Samba logs 4.2.7 in debug 10
Subsribed to events on path /watchfolder recursively.
First notification is renaming a folder in a subfolder, path
/watchfolder/test/renamed - that works OK.
Second notification is on path /watchfolder/test/subfile.txt and editing
that in Notepad on another Windows 7 machine via UNC path

rsync - detecting change/no-change without an itemised list
rsync watchers,
I've been using rsync version 3.1.1+, and do like the improved --stats
output: e.g.
Number of files: 2480403 (reg: 2034290, dir: 233487, link: 212174, special: 452)
Number of created files: 356 (reg: 6, dir: 3, link: 347)
Number of regular files transferred: 16
...
- thanks to the developers.
However, I want to be able to look at the --stats output and make a
decision
