cygwin + rsync issue under Windows 7 x64
Friends -- I am posting this to both lists since I think it has to do with some kind of unfortunate interaction. The latest rsync (3.0.7-1) under an up-to-date cygwin on Windows 7 x64 gets into some kind of busy wait situation when transferring large files over ssh. rsync, ssh, and zip can all be consuming much cpu time. I downloaded and built rsync 3.0.7 locally, manually editing config.status

macro feature tests in rsync code
The tests in rsync for features have been changed to testing the value of a macro definition instead of previously testing if the macro was defined. This testing is now inconsistent with the HAVE_SOCKETPAIR macro, where in some places it is tested to see if the macro is defined, and other places to if it has a non zero value. I would rather not globally disable the diagnostic about undefined

RCMD SHLIB problem in 64 bits
I am trying to build a dll writen in C to be called by R. Interestingly, when I set the global environment variable PATH to be "c:\Rtools\bin;C:\Rtools\gcc-4.6.3;C:\Program Files\R\R-3.1.1\bin\*i386*;" and I typed "RCMD SHLIB Permutation.c" in Cygwin, the dll was compiled and I can sucessfully call functions after I had loaded it into 32 bits R via .Call. However, now I want

remote files not being deleted
I've got an issue with remote files being deleted after the local file has been deleted. For some reason, this isn't happening. I'm running rsync 2.5.6 protocol 26 (yes, I know there are newer versions, but logistics dictates that I can't upgrade right now). I have used the --delete, --delete-after, and --ignore-errors options in all sorts of combinations. An example of the

solution of split data.frame
Dear Folks: My recent question concerning split data.frame has been solved using both following approaches. (Question is listed at the end.) solution 1: Try melt from the reshape package (by Gabor) library(reshape) melt(DF, 1:2) You may may need to resort it if the order is important. solution 2: good for large dataset (by Robert) "If your data set is really big, i.e. bigger than R

(CYGWIN) Rsync Stalling Upon first file transfer.
Rsync will recieve the file list, and discover the files to consider, and then stalls out on the first actual file transfered. 0 bytes 0kB/s. On the recieving server, the DLGDiagv504f.exe file is named .dlgdiagv504.f.exe.7dd0oa and is only 512 kb. The rsync process still runs after this, like it's in an idle mode. It's not just this file, its been a number of different files.

omega issues/notes
All, I've run into a couple of things using omega/omindex under cygwin. I don't think I'd attribute them to xapian, omega or omindex, but wanted to get them out to the list so that if anyone else should run into these things down the road, hopefully someone will remember and be able to help. 1) after compiling and building omega, and doing make install, I get a set violation when

Home folder permissions disappear sometimes
Hi everyone, I'm running a domain-joined fileserver with Samba 4.9.5 and SSSD on Debian 10. My DC is also running Samba 4.9.5 on Debian 10. I have recently joined it to an older domain with a DC that wasn't feeling well (Zentyal with much older Samba). Everything was working great for a while after I've moved the FSMO roles and demoted the old DC. I don't seem to have any

scp fails with openssh 3.4p1 cywin release
Two Windows 2k cygwin machines running openssh 3.4p1 results in the following failures 1 - scp -p failes with error "protocol error: atime.usec not delimited" 2 - an scp of a pdf file results in a corrupt copy. My guess is that this is due to cr/lf translations. Once it failed on one file I didn't try other since I don't trust it. Imaging away / flick -------------- next
