NT vs W2K permission
Hi, I have a group of users (Doc Master Index) that is given rwx permission to a subfolder under a share folder (docs) by ACL. If user edits the file in NT the permission remains intact, but if user changes the file in W2K, everyone gets read-only. Would someone give me a couple of pointers please? A subset of my conf is appended below. Regards, Norman [root@smbserver Document Master Index]# ls

Hi, I have a file that changes slightly in size every day and has the timestamp appended to it.. for example on the 14th may: MybackedUpFileBlabla_200905140219.bak This is transferred by rsync to another server. The next day that file is deleted and substituted by a new file on the sender.. the new file would be named for example (15th May): MybackedUpFileBlabla_200905150221.bak The new file

Checking the existence of a file
Is there a platform-independent way of checking in R whether a given file exists in the user's filespace? (so in a unix system, can you check within R whather, say, /homef/jonm/thisfile exists) Thanks Jonathan Myles -- Dr. Jonathan Myles e-mail:jonathan.myles at mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk MRC Biostatistics Unit Tel. 01223 330372 Institute of Public Health FAX 01223 330388

Appending <tr>''s to Table - Images in <tr>''s loading slowly.
While working on an application, I have run into an interesting problem for which I have no solution at this moment, hence writing to this forum. Basically, I am working on an email application that requires me to fetch data from the backend using AJAX and then I use dom to append the results dynamically to the mail display table. So far so good. So, I call a function getTableData() at the end

Problem with "--relative" and symlinks
There appears to be a problem with the handling of symlinks within source directories by the --relative (-R) option. I am using rsync 2.5.5 on an SGI Origin 200 running IRIX 6.5.11f. Example: copying the contents of /usr/local/etc/inhouse/db/ from wolf to fox where /usr/local is a directory on wolf, but /usr/local is a link to /usr2/local on fox. Here's the dry-run output (some
