Samba 3.0.0beta1 box drops out of ADS network periodically.
Hi guys, first let me say, great work on Samba 3.0. I've been using the beta, and even the pre-betas in some semi production environments for a few months now without any problems. Upon putting Samba 3.0 on a fresh RedHat 9.0 machine, I am having some difficulties. I joined the machine to the local Win2k managed domain with 'net ADS join', and all was good for a while. Everybody could

copying directory structure only (not the files) from a remote UNIX box using rsync
Hi, I am trying to copy the directory structure only from the remote UNIX box onto the box from which Im executing the rsync. This is what I tried: rsync -av --include '*/' --exclude '*' tashaikh@remotebox:/dw/etl/ home/ prod/log/ /export/home/tashaikh/auto/log The above keeps on executing without returning any result. I have tried to copy directory structure from another

Isolated networks && test lab
I'm trying to migrate my VirtualBox test lab to KVM. In my VB configuration, I have several VM routers with 4 interfaces each. Each router has a bridged interface which connects them all together and to the outside world. I have servers/clients dispersed on each of the other private (Isolated) segments that use the routers as default gateways. In trying to make this work, I used Virtual

Re: Isolated networks && test lab
Lesson learned. I think I had the same IP address assigned to my VM router as I did the Host. Side question: where are the virtual networks stored when you create them w/VM Manager? -----Original Message----- From: Spanky Horawitz <shorawitz@gmail.com> Reply-to: shorawitz@gmail.com To: libvirt-users@redhat.com Subject: Isolated networks && test lab Date: Tue, 25 Aug 2015 17:17:56

Need help to rsynch the directory structure only excluding the files from remote to local.
Hi Tim, I tried using the rsync like how you specified in your example and it worked fine. But when I tried it between my UNIX box and a remote server the command would just not complete and give any output whatsoever. This is how I did it: rsync -av --include '*/' --exclude '*' tashaikh@remotebox:/dw/etl/home/ prod/log/ /export/home/tashaikh/auto/log In the above I need to copy

not all files copied
Hi, I'm using rsync to copy and sync a directory of about 25,000 files across two machines. I used rsync to make an initial copy, from machine 1 to machine 2, and then syncing back incremental changes from machine 2 to machine 1. On the initial copy from machione 1 to machine 2, I found that a number of files failed to copy, but that they were copied on a second try. There were no warnings

Selectively overriding --cvs-exclude option
Hi, I've come across a situation with rsync which seems like a bug. I could not find anything listed in bugzilla so am writing to the list to see if it's just me. I have a situation where I would like to upload some auto-generated files to a website. However, I don't want these files to be included in my CVS repository so I have added them to a .cvsignore file. To save from creating

Rsync 2.5.5 (Digital Unix 4.0f) Large Filesets...
Hi, I've been trying to use rsync to backup the content of a large web application on our Digital unix servers. I'm having some success but the main problem is the sheer number of files and subdirectories which must be copied/maintained between the two servers (one is our standby system). Believe it or not there are in excess of 7.5 million files/directories which must be synced between

Major rsync issue - overwriting files!!!
Hi, I'm having a MAJOR issue with an rsync backup script that is actually OVERWRITING the files that it should be backing up! The thing is, the same script (with different source/destination variables) runs FLAWLESSLY on another file server! Background: 2 OS X client computers running 10.4.11 (1 intel, 1 PPC). both are running rsync v2.6.3. rsync is backing up from one firewire HD(afp
