yum $releasever thinks it's 1 instead of 3 - Nevermind
Never mind. I updated with the centos-release rpm and that seemed to fix it.
Thanks for any who may have offered already.
Original below:
I just upgraded one of my Tao boxes to Centos 3. The usual procedure is
to do a yum update twice, and all is fine.
This time, I had to rebuilddb before I could run the second yum update,
and once I started this, yum fails. It says that $releasever is

ahh nevermind
The new flac frontend has a "Replaygain" option enabled by default.
Kinda foolish to have this on by default if it butchers the sound like
this. I can understanding the need to normalize when batch encoding
but on a per-album basis and file basis rather silly.
--replay-gain Calculate ReplayGain values and store in Vorbis

A locked environment

Changing the value of a variable is still possible unless the binding has
been locked"
A bit of experimentation shows that as well as

password problem with rsync
Hi,
I want to use rsync from a script. Before that I am trying it from
command line. I use it as,
$ rsync --password-file=pass -e ssh -av legal.txt accounts@127.0.0.1:/home/accounts
accounts@127.0.0.1's password:
I don't want to be prompted for password.
$ ls -l pass

$ cat pass

rsync - windows how should I compile the code any clues - Thanks !
Hi,
I have a unique issue that I am dealing with here.
I need to develop rsync algorithm into a library that can be re-used with my
VB / VC application on Windows platform.
I need your advice if there is any library already available on the Internet
for this? I did get librsync but that is just a header file which I do not
know how to compile also with the existing code I have.
Can you

remove-send-files, thanks and question
First remove-send-files is improved in the actual version
and really works better for me, removing is now more in time.
In my case I have a buggy wireless cconnection and rsyncing over night
in a loop, until rsync return 0, because often the pipe connection gets
broken.
After a complete success rsync there are files left on the sender, because
they where transfered right before loosing

updating server with rsync????
Hi,
I have 2 ftp servers with 3 identical users.
I want server B to be updated of server A.
Whatever changes mmade by users on server A should be made on server B
say every 5 hours.
Is rsync the right tool to use here?
Can rsync be used such that only changed files are downloaded?
Thanks a lot and bye.
With warm regards,
-Payal

rsync: a bit of confusion
Hi,
This is the first time I have setup rsync.conf like,
max connections = 20
syslog facility = local3
read only = true
hosts allow = 192.168.10.10
[qmail-control]
comment = qmail-control
path = /var/qmail/control
read only = yes
list = yes
uid = root
gid = root
Then from 192.168.10.10, I tried,
rsync -avz -e ssh

AW: password problem with rsync
The password is related to a rsync server,
when you communicate through the rsync port:
grep rsync /etc/services
rsync 873/tcp # rsync
rsync 873/udp # rsync
the authentication therefore is done against the rsync serverpassword.
Yo wanted to "file in" the ssh password?
Not possible in this way ...

add rsync -A -X to Backuppc "RsyncArgs" get 'Got fatal error during xfer (fileListReceive failed)'
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Both systems would need to have an rsync installed that support those
features. They are a compile time choice and are automatically
disabled if dependencies aren't met. You can see if they are
supported with 'rsync --version'. If they are supported that will
list both ACLs and xattrs.
The filesystems must also support them of course.

The command line order shouldn't matter though that might depend on
what else is in there (especially -s).
Rsync is backwards compatible so the version mismatch shouldn't matter
but 3.1 has some nice benefits over 3.0.9 so upgrading is a good idea.
In the end you probably need to know what rsync command line is being
run and what rsync says

Urgent Please - Samba 3.0.1 - LDAP - WinXP ... has anyone got it working???
I've been trying to have Samba 3.0.1 work as a primary domain controller
using LDAP as the authentication mechanism.
However I am unable to get any of my Windows XP Pro machine join the
domain. When prompt for an account with permissions to join the domain
by the XP client, I give it the Administrator account which is granted

Thanks, got replys
I've got a mix of some receive only, some send only.
I tried to slam together two different configs really fast.
This helped.
I'll look things over and post some configs after a bit.
Thanks again!

Rsync question
Hi there - various web pages indicated that the emails on the To lines could be used for general questions
so what the heck ... I'm having a problem getting a specific rsync option to work..
I am trying to copy a list of files via rsync - the man pages indicate the --files-from option should work
but I cant seem to get this to work
the syntax I'm using is
rsync -vpgut --stats
