Coercing character to factor
I just downloaded version 1.0.0 and several binary libraries (VR, rpart, norm, stataread) - WinNT version. I then converted a file from Stata 6.0 to R format by using the stataread library. Multiple count if style "queries"
Dear List, I am looking to calculate two things from my data frame and was after some advice. For the example below i want to know. 1. How many unique Orders/Families and Genera there are per eco-name 2. How many incidences are there for each Order/Family and Genus there are per eco-region I have 650 econame. (box-) plot annotation: italic within paste?

I have some images of bugs (insects) with many bugs in each image. I want to count the number of bugs and to have an estimate of the area of each one. I've tried searching for an R package to do so with no success. Is this a task that I should pursue doing in R or should I restrict myself to specific image analysis software (e.g. ImageJ)?. Some files always copied to W2K system
I am copying from a rsync --daemon (have tried from both W2K/cygwin & Linux daemons) to a W2K machine. Some files get copied every time even though they haven't been touched since the last copy.
