Improving name-truncation detection
I've got a patch that changes f_name_to() to return an unsigned int
(like snprintf() and strlcpy() do) and adds checking to ensure that we
didn't overflow the name before we try to use it:
http://www.blorf.net/name-overflow.patch
If anyone would care to check out the following patch before I commit
it, please do.

Question about file ownership on destination
Hello
Regarding ownership on the destination:
rsync's man page indicates that when synchronizing files to a remote host,
-o implies the --numeric-ids option, which makes perfect sense aince the
named users/groups may not exist on the destination host. The problem I
have is that the files created on the destination still appear to be owned
by the local user (server1) on the rsync

[LLVMdev] Naryreassociate vs reassociate
Hi Daniel,
I presume you mean, instead of assigning function arguments distinct ranks (
http://llvm.org/docs/doxygen/html/Reassociate_8cpp_source.html#l00282), we
should group function arguments in favor of existing pairings. You are not
suggesting discarding the entire ranking system, right?
I'll look into how that works on my benchmarks. AFAIK, we encountered some
cases that seem beyond

rsync'ing an rdiff-backup repository
I'm rsync'ing an rdiff-backup repository to a different machine and I
have a few questions I'm hoping you guys can help me out with.
Should I use --archive? Or maybe -rlD instead?
Can I restrict an SSH key to rsync? I can do it with rdiff-backup
with command="rdiff-backup --server" but I can't figure out how to do
it with rsync.
The rdiff-backup repository I'm

Thunderbird won't start after move to new box
I've tried moving my Thunderbird profile from one C7 box, a standard PC
to another C7 box, a DELL server. I did this by rsync'ing ~/.thunderbird.
However, on the new box, Thunderbird only starts if I run it
-safe-mode.? If I don't run it in safe mode I see the window flash up
and instantly close.? No errors or notifications appear in the terminal
window.,
Anyone got suggestions

dm-ioband + bio-cgroup benchmarks
Hi All,
I have got excellent results of dm-ioband, that controls the disk I/O
bandwidth even when it accepts delayed write requests.
In this time, I ran some benchmarks with a high-end storage. The
reason was to avoid a performance bottleneck due to mechanical factors
such as seek time.
You can see the details of the benchmarks at:

Thanks,

I wonder if it would be useful to have a partner program that would index
the rsync'ed file system (like Tripwire). If the index file exists (or

Regression: sockets for 3.0.9pre1 ?
Hi.
rsync 3.0.8
FreeBSD RELENG_4 i386.
rsync -Haxi --delete /.../ /.../
The first pathspec above (residing on zz, a full filesystem) is:
/vvvv/wwww/xxxx/zz/
The second pathspec above (residing on yyy, an empty filesystem) is:
/vvvv/wwww/xxxx/yyy/zz/
It's obviously a 'copy everything over' operation.
I've had to obfuscate the pathnames, however the exact pathlength

Modified --files-from patch
I've been working on an update to my --files-from patch that I think
will soon be ready to be committed to CVS. See if you agree.
For those that have been following the saga, here's a list of just the
changes since the last patch (for those that haven't, see the next
section):

rsync hangs in read_int (generator.c line 498)
Hello
I'm having a heck of a time rsync'ing (is that the proper conjugation?
:)) between two Cygwin machines. I have three directory trees that are
"exposed" via rsynch. Two of the three have a very shallow structure,
and they work fine. The third, however, has a fairly deep structure and
many more files than the other two, and rsync'ing this directory causes
a hang on

I saw this config option, but I didn't realize that.
The issue also occurs with 4.3. I even tried 4.3-rc1 with the same results.
Would the DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION effect 3D?
