IO error encountered - skipping file deletion
Hello list, I'm posting some info here hoping it might help some others. I searched around a bit before I guessed (correctly) at the cause of my problem. I'm currently using cwrsync (rsync 2.6.2) to backup data from a Windows XP machine to a Windows 2000 machine. Unfortunately the boss won't let me use Linux here. My process worked fine for at least a month but recently had started

IO error encountered -- skipping file deletion
Hi list, I have a Windows server backing up to a Linux server that continuously gets 'IO error encountered -- skipping file deletion' in the receiver log file. Could someone enlighten me where and what this error is referring to. I have tried various options, like using --delete or --delete-during. Still the same problem. Is it on the sender or receiver side, or a timeout encountered

IO error encountered, skipping file deletion - WTF?
Anyone know what this is supposed to mean? 366305 files to consider IO error encountered -- skipping file deletion I keep getting this, and so it refuses to delete any files from a mirror. But what is the supposed I/O error? Can we have it give us some kind of clue? dmesg doesn't show any clues. -vv --stats --progress doesn't help much. I suppose I could strace/ktrace it, but is it

[Fwd: Re: meaning of "IO Error: skipping the delete...."]]
Hi, I am doing the testing over this. As soon as the error will repeat, I will send u a snapshot of the same, and the command i used that time. Right now, we are facing another problem, it is showing the following error: "send_files failed to open dir1/dir2/dir3/abcde.eps : permission denied" Kindly let us know the reason. I should have specified what i was replying to. This section seemed to be in reference to what I had experienced before. " > Well, I'm stumped too. This is where it sets a sort of 60 second timeout if you don't set a timeout at all. As far as what it affects, I'm not that good with the code. I just know that my big syncs would die in almost exactly 1 minute unless I specified a timeout, and then would die at that timeout until i got it very large. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tools@willy

Hello, I am not subscribed to this mailing list. My apologies if non-members are not allowed to post in this forum. I have a Linux-2.4.19pre10aa4 computer and I have seen an error message "Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:598 (03:05 blocknr 0)" appears in the log. With a little bit of research I found that this message is printed from fs/jbd/journal.c,

Some problems encountered by a tinc user
I got some email from spsun@public1.wx.js.cn, and he found out that: - The nasty key exchange bug that will make connections go dead after an hour is part of the tinc 1.0pre4 release :(. It will only show up on VPNs with more than 2 daemons though. It is already fixed in the CVS version. - If IndirectData = yes, there is still an error in protocol.c: DEL_HOSTS are sent for hosts which
