RSYNC "make" problems with HP UX 11.0 & GCC 3.3.2
I am an rsync newbie trying to setup rsync on a HP UX 11.0 server, but
am running into problems in my "make". I am using gcc version 3.3.2 and
rsync-2.6.6.tar.gz. Would any of you have ideas on troubleshooting this
issue? I haven't had much luck googling info on this, with the
exception of switching from HP's simple c compiler to gcc. The warnings
and errors I am recieving

compiling on HP-UX
Hi, everybody here!
I hope not all is old stuff, because I only scanning subjects
fast in this list. (and sorry for my worse english, too.)
1) rsync 2.6.0 on HP-UX (HP-UX server B.11.00 U 9000/803)
Running as server: crashed always after receiving data.
The data is transmitted correctly, and the server dies
afterwards. (rsync2.5.7 works anyway)
(about rsync2.6.2 later)

Make Fails on Cobalt Qube 2
All;
I am using the cobalt Qube 2 which uses a Cobalt OS with is supposedly a RedHat Linux 4.2 variant. I can not compile the new rsync version 2.5.7 as I always fail my make with the following error:
clientname.c: In function `client_addr':
clientname.c:72: warning: implicit declaration of function `getnameinfo'
clientname.c:73: `NI_NUMERICHOST' undeclared (first use this function)

Rsync-2.5.5 on Tru64 UNIX V51.A
Hi
I am trying to compile rsync-2.5.5 on Tru64 UNIX V5.1A
The configure completed sucessfully however the make failed. The following
is a copy of the configure and make output. Could you please provide advice
as to why this is failing and hopefully resolution.
Just as a matter of comparison - rsync-2.5.4 make also fails, however,
rsync-2.4.8 compiled sucessfully on this version of Tru64 5.1A

(no subject)
There are quite a few compilation warnings from rsync-2.5.5rc1 that
could be eliminated by code cleanup.
gcc -I. -I. -g -O2 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -Wall -W -c main.c -o main.o
main.c: In function `start_client':
main.c:665: warning: unused variable `write_batch'
main.c:664: warning: unused variable `whole_file'
These warnings will go away when the two variables are properly
bracketed

Patch for systems with no setreuid()
Sorry if I'm duplicating an existing patch, but...
On systems with no seteuid() that have setreuid() there is an
emulation, but if both are lacking (but we do have setresuid()),
nothing is done. The following seems to be right, but I've only got
one machine (running an ancient version of HP-UX) which needs this so
it may not be general:

Unhelpful error message when matching hosts in access list [PATCH]
Greetings,
As previously reported by me to the Debian bug tracking system:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An access list in rsyncd.conf may contain hostnames as well as
addresses. It may contain several patterns to match against.
address_match (in access.c) does this by trying to match hostname and
address against each of the patterns until a match is

anyone compile source on Mac OS X?
Did anyone have any luck compiling rsync 2.5.2, from source, on Mac OS X?
Doing a straight ./configure && make, I get the error below.
I've searched the lists here with no luck. Any pointers, or any URL
with more info would be great.
Thanks!

Name lookup failures and CIDR regression under cygwin ( patch attached )
Just updated to 3.0.4 under cygwin and I'm now getting lookup
failures in the log.

Looking at the code it seems the call will never succeed?

OpenSSH 1.2.3 on AIX 4.3.3
Hmph. I wish I had checked the list before I wasted a half-day on this.
Yes, the problem exists under AIX (mine's 4.3.1). Here's the patch I
came up with, which may be a little more straightforward than the
original. I confirmed that it works under Solaris 2.[67] too.
Don't forget to run autoconf.

[PATCH] Patches to rsync-2.5.5 for Stratus VOS (update)
This is a corrected version of the patch I originally submitted
on September 5th, and resubmitted on October 14th. I have
removed the changes that added $(CFLAGS) to the link-only
invocations of gcc. Otherwise, the patch is the same as before.
My thanks to Paul (prj@po.cwru.edu) for noticing my error and
kindly correcting me.
