Extracting sentences with combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records
Hi Paul, No need to collapse the information into a single text string, gregexpr() can take a vector of strings (sentences in your case). You can split your sentences up, number them how you want, then search for your pattern either via regex or via these extra packages you use which probably use the PCRE regex library anyway. However, as this is basically what you did, I'm not sure why

Extracting sentences with combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records
Hi Robert, Thank you for your reply. An attempt to solve this via a regular expression query is particularly helpful. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to play around with this just now. Ultimately though, I think I would like to implement a solution something along the lines of what you have done. I have a book on regular expressions that I am now starting to read. In the meantime, the

Extracting sentences with combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records
Have you looked at the CRAN Natural Language Processing Task View? If not, why not? If so, why were the resources described there inadequate? Extracting sentences with combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records
Hello All, I need some help figuring out how to extract combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records. I've provided some sample data and code below to illustrate what I'm trying to do. At the moment, I'm trying to extract sentences that contain the word "breast" plus either "metastatic" or "stage IV". It's been some

Extracting sentences with combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records
Hi Paul, Sounds like you have your answer, but for fun I thought I'd try solving your problem using only a regular expression query and base R. I believe this works: > txt <- "Patient had stage IV breast cancer. Nothing matches this sentence. Metastatic and breast match this sentence. French bike champion takes stage IV victory in Tour de France." > pattern <-

Extracting sentences with combinations of target words/terms from cancer patient text medical records
Hi Bert, Thanks for your reply. It appears that I didn't replace the variable name "sampletxt" with the argument "x" in my function. I've corrected that and now my code seems to be working fine. migrating from specialized qpopper
I'm hoping to migrate to dovecot from qpopper, with the eventual goal of enabling IMAP. However, my qpopper installation is fairly specialized, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone could get me headed down the best path. Here's the situation. I'm running FreeBSD and have a virtual domains setup with an extremely hacked LDA to do delivery to mailboxes within hashed

[PATCH] fixup xen-4.0 xend to match changes in tools-python-prefix.diff
debian/patches/tools-python-prefix.diff removes auxbin.pathTo and replaces it with auxbin.path_bin and auxbin.path_boot. However there are still references to auxbin.pathTo in xend. The attached switches those usages to the correct new function. Without these I get: Error: 'module' object has no attribute 'pathTo' when trying to start a guest with

I'm not shure but I guess that you miss a " and putted it in the wrong place! Try this: postscript("/pathto/filename.eps",horizontal=FALSE,onefile=FALSE) Hope It helps. -----Mensagem original----- De: r-help-bounces at r-project.org [mailto:r-help-bounces at r-project.org] Em nome de e-letter Enviada em: segunda-feira, 17 de agosto de 2009 10:11 Para: r-help at r-project.org

certdnsnames question
Hi All Apologies if this is obvious, but I''m a bit flaky around SSL certificates. NB puppet version 0.25.5 We use the brilliant feature of certificates where you can have Alternate DNS names for a certificate which is manifested in the puppet master config file as certdnsnames. All our clients connect to puppet-$ location.example.com, and if $location is down, we can point the CNAME to

Rep:Re: [HELP] file access
Hi! A .ST file actually is a file representing an Atari ST disk. As Atari used Dos format, I can do (if I want): mount /pathTo/file.st /pathTo/mntPoint -t msdos -o loop So Stew (the Atari emulator) actually does file access, not disk access. Still, I'll follow Mr Patel's suggestion, and try to send the resulting file. Yves. -----Message d'origine De: g.patel@wanadoo.fr----- >I use

What changed in the R Windows interface from v2.6.2 to v2.7.0?
Dear R-devel, I would like to launch the Rgui.exe from a Fortran console application (we will call this FortranCon.exe), that I have written myself. To do this, I send the command line "C:\Program Files\R\R-X.X.X\Rgui.exe" (where X.X.X is the version number) as an argument to the Windows API function CreateProcess (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms682425(VS.85).aspx)

Legend Position
List, Is there any way to specify the position of the legend from within the following code? If so, how can I do it. As it stands it in the bottom left corner and I want to move it to the top right. I'm not sure if I can use the default "plot" or if I need to go with the lattice package. Suggestions much appreciated. plot(y, xlab="Survival Time (Months)",

installing apps correctly
Hi, I'm still struggling with my vfp app in wine. This time I removed all traces of my old deb 0.9.1 installation and did a compile from cvs. Using wine tools I got my base setup and M$ extras installed, and then installed my runtime app again using its own (wise) installer. The problem persists that it doesn't find its own dependencies if I fire it up from anything other than its top

protocol version mismatch
Hi, I am pretty new to rsync so this question might have a very trivial answer. Sorry for that then. (using google didn't work though) I want to synchronise the files from my laptop to my machine at work and back from time to time. Both machines have linux (the laptop has fedora core 2 with a 2.6.6 kernel and the remote machine redhat 9 with a 2.6.3 kernel) On the laptop I use rsync
