[PATCH] (Resubmission) Enable push to remote rsynced server using rsync:// URL
Hello,
Recently I noticed a disparity in the use of HOST::MODULE and
rsync://HOST/MODULE syntax by rsync. HOST::MODULE can be used to both
pull from and push to a remote rsyncd server, but rsync://HOST/MODULE
can only be used to pull from a remote rsyncd server. The attached
patch resolves this issue by also allowing a rsync:// URL to be used
to push files to a remote rsyncd server.

[PATCH] --timelimit and --stopat
Greetings,
Upon a suggestion to improve the --timelimit patch, I have also added a --stopat option.
You can get the patch from this URL and/or cut/paste it from below.
http://www.terry.uga.edu/~jft/rsync-timelimit-stopat.patch.gz
Here are the details...
--timelimit=T
This option allows you to specify the maximum number of minutes
rsync will run for. This time starts when

Write-only option
Hi!
I am doing backups from a number of machines to an rsync server. For some
time I was trying to come up with a solution, which would prevent users
from peeking at each other's files, which are backed up. Finally, I've
hacked rsync, introducing a new option "write only" for rsyncd.conf. When
set to true, this option forbids the transfers from server to the client,
thus solving

Here is a diff which should allow applying batch updates remotely ( as
apposed to copying the batch files to the remote server and running rsync
there ).
Eg

[PATCH] time limit
Greetings,
I have written a patch for rsync-2.6.1pre-2 which adds a --time-limit=T
option. When this option is used rsync will stop after T minutes
and exit. I think this option is useful when rsyncing a large amount
of data during the night (non-busy hours), and then stopping when it is
time for people to start using the network, during the day (busy hours).
If this patch is accepted it may

[PATCH server] Fix for anyterm and multiple nodes
proxy/anyterm needs to go to the node that has our vm on it, not
vmnodes:anyterm. This patch also requires a change to the anyterm.js file
that ships with anyterm. The change is at the top:
- var url_prefix = proxy/;
+ var url_prefix = window.location.pathname + /proxy/;
Not quite sure how we're going to manage that change though.

"rsync --daemon" and IPv4/v6 dual stack
on systems that has separate IPv4/v6 socket layer (i.e. IPv4 packet
does not get routed to AF_INET6 socket) rsync --daemon would accept
IPv6 sessions only. open_socket_in() tries to deal with the
situation, but it was not enough. here's the patch.
(it is required on all *BSDs to accept both IPv4 and IPv6 connections
with --daemon mode)

Custom build kernel patch fails big time.
I am trying to build a custom kernel for the HIPL code
(infrahip.hip.fi), using the patch for the Linux 2.6.18 kernel. I
followed all the instructions for getting the kernel source and making a
custom kernel provided on the wiki. The rpmbuild fails with the
following messages:
Get an error on this step (figured out my other problem):

When rsync 2.5.5 is pulling files and the target disk runs out of space,
this is what the tail end of the message stream looks like (w/--verbose):

[PATCH] fix install-strip target in Makefile
The first patch will make "make install-strip" work. The second spends
a few cycles avoiding "1 files to consider." Both are trivial but IMHO
useful.

@RSYNC EXIT / @RSYNC EOF
tridge and Wayne in particular:
I checked in this patch, which is meant to consolidate the ones from
both of you for handling EOF in a modules list. The idea is that we
need to handle servers that just close the socket rather than sending
a nice ending token, but we want to keep EOF detection on in general.
(The IO code is such a mess!)

patch: timeout problem solved
hi,
I made some changes to generator.c :
- reading data, calculating checksums and sending it to the sender now
happens in one loop.
- the code has become shorter
- it uses less memory
- 2 malloc's less that may fail
- the line will be used all the time
- it should be a bit faster
It seems to work for me, please have a look at it.
You should run "make proto" after

Hey,
I just wanted to mention that the same problem still exists for me in
version 3.09, altough the changelog mentions:
Reduce the command line to 511 characters; 1023 caused memory
overflows.
Was this meant to be a solution for this problem, or does this entry of
the changelog apply to another bug?
thx,

[Patch] Require extra --stats to emit heap statistics
Since the heap statistics were added, I have viewed thousands of rsync
reports (with --verbose and --stats), and not once have I had a need
for them. So for me, they're just noise.
Here is a 3-part patch to v2.5.6 that treats --stats in a similar
fashion to --verbose in that additional --stats will get you more
statistics. For this initial case, there's only one additional level
