Correlation of coefficients?
Hi R users!
One thing I cannot understand with R is the frequently appearing "
Correlation of coefficients". I do not find a through going explanation
of this concept either on the help pages of R or on the internet. A
Google search has shown many examples of R/S-Plus outputs but no
explanations of meaning.
I am afraid this turns out to be a silly and unworthy question. Would

Are you saying that when I replace the Samba server by a Windows SMB2
share server, I should see better performance? I can perfectly test that
out and record a Wireshark trace for this if you like...

IPSwichBoard designers wanted
I am rewriting IPSwitchBoard at the moment. I want to make IPSwitchBoard
"Skinable" meaning that you can design your own skins with company logo etc.
You will also be able to add graphical extension buttons, and led's that
will light up ex. DND, busy/free, message waiting and much more.
If you are graphically minded and would like to help with making test skins

ip range cidr calculator
I found a command-line program that did this once before, used it for a
while and then forgot about it until right now and I'll be damned if I
can find it again.
A command line IP calculator that takes an address range and give it
back in cidr format.
I found an online one that does this here:

But I would prefer to have the

Building a web risk calculator based on Cox PH--definitive method for calculating probability?
Hello all,
I am a medical student and as a capstone for my summer research project I am
going to create a simple online web "calculator" for users to input their
relevant data, and a probability of relapse within 5 years will be computed
and returned based on the Cox PH model I have developed.
The issue I'm having is finding a definitive method/function to feed the

Windows SMB2 client doing excessive, inefficient SMB2 Find (and other) requests
Hello Jeremy, Andrew, All,
I can now indeed confirm that my test scenario runs MUCH faster when
executed against a Windows 10 SMB2 server than against Samba (test
scenario takes ~ 18 seconds using a Windows SMB2 server as opposed to ~
300 seconds when the server is Samba 4.6.5).
But, most interestingly, the reason for these performance gains is NOT -
as assumed by Jeremy - that the number of

calculator application
I want to build a one page finance calculator in Rails.
The form has several fields on it. When I press the calculate button
it will return to the same page with the answer. If there is an error
it will also return to the same page with the appropriate error
messages.
I want it to be able to
1. Carry over all the values on the form fields
2. Use the rails validation methods
How can I acheive

Ah, ok, "directory handle leases"... Ouch, I see... :-(
In this case, I will first repeat my test scenario with a Windows SMB2
server and report back here.
Based on the results of this exercise, you can then advise whether you
still want to move this to smb-technical and raise this with Microsoft
folks (who still might have a simple workaround "fix" to improve their

I''ve written a small javascript ADSL throughput calculator:

Although the base calculator may have only four or five fundamental operations, you can provide programmable function keys that the user can customize.

Recommended style with calculator and persistent data
I have some calculations that require persistent state. For example,
they retain most of the data across calls with different parameters.
They retain parameters across calls with different subsets of the cases
(this is for distributed computation). They retain early analysis of
the problem to speed later computations.
I've created an S4 object, and the stylized code looks like this
