Cygwin hang-problem resolved
Not for me! I'm using cygwin-1.5.6-1, with rsync 2.5.7-2 (as reported by cygcheck -s). I've also tried with rsync-1.4.0 (as someone reported that worked), and rsync-2.6.0, both built from source. I get a 100% reliable hang after the first 0-128k of the first file. Command looks like: rsync -e ssh -ar sparky:"/cygdrive/c/www\ sites/" /cygdrive/c/wwwsites The directory tree

rsync hangs on big transfer Debian 5.0.3 pulling from WinXP SP3/ Cygwin 1.5.25
Debian Users, Cygwin, & Rsync: I'm having trouble with rsync invoked on Debian 5.0.3 pulling files from Windows XP SP3/ Cygwin 1.5.25. I posted to the Debian User and Cygwin mailing lists [1] and thought I was done two days ago, but I wasn't -- after several hours of use of the Windows machine, rsync would again hang on Debian. To summarize, rsync pulls in perhaps 1,000 files from

hanging problem on cygwin
Hello, I am using the latest rsync version that is available as of today, which is 2.6.5, that I compiled from the src downloaded from rsync website (my understanding is that the latest version includes all the patches that were required for cygwin). Both the source and target systems are Windows 2000 server, and I am trying to sync over ssh (through inetd). I am frequently facing problem with

Cygwin bug in hosts allow
When using cygwin, I tried to specify the subnet mask for the "hosts allow" option in rsyncd.conf with 192.168.1.0/24, but that didn't work. I had to use 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0. With /24, it gives this error @ERROR: access denied to mymodule from rsyncclient (192.168.1.20) rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at main.c(1171) Also, it would be handy if

Rsync, cygwin and seemingly random deleting of files problem
Dear All, I am running Rsync (2.6.3) on Windows Server 2003 via Cygwin, performing a pseudo-local sync (t: is a mapped NAS). The Rsync command I am using is below, but I am having a problem whereby certain files are being deleted, seemingly at random. I am using the --delete flag. These files are not actually deleted as they are then transferred back in the sync process. However, this is a

dup error of rsync 3.0.6-1 under cygwin 1.7.0-62 and 63
I have used earlier rsync on cygwin successfully for a long. I have now moved to cygwin 1.7.0, which required moving to rsync 3.0.6-1 at the same time. (The -1 is for minor cygwin-specific patches.) When I do almost any command with rsync, such as the one below, it breaks at a dup2 after a fork in pipe.c (routine piped_child). Windows gives error code 6, which is translated by cygwin to errno 9 =

Cygwin issues: modify-window and hangs
I had a friend run some Cygwin tests and we found that --modify-window=1 works just as well as --modify-window=2 on FAT filesystems to copy files from Unix and detect the difference in granularity. FAT filesystems always have timestamps that have an even number of seconds. On the other hand, NTFS filesystems can store the modification time down to the second, whereas previously people on this

i/o timeout errors with cygwin
I have been a long time user of rsync for backups between unix/linux servers for years. Recently, I have been trying to backup Windows boxes using rsync with cygwin. I have no problems when doing this running rsync over ssh from a Windows server with the destination to a unix server, but to run rsync on the unix server pulling down from a Windows server, I get i/o timeouts. I also have this

cygwin + rsync 2.6.3-1
Estimated gurus. I my PC Windows I have installed cygwin and rsync 2.6.3-1. My PC executes -in batch mode-daily rsync with these parameters "--archive --delete --progress --stats" and saves each days results of this process in a log file. Somedays, rsync doesn't run very well. Files aren't copied but in log file appers like all files are being written without any problem.

Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6 over SSH hangs on Win2k->Win2k
When using Cygwin Rsync 2.5.6/OpenSSH 3.6.1 for copying files from Win2k->Win2k, I get 2 or 3 hung processes on the receiving-side out of about every 50 runs. These hung processes cause the system to be unable to reboot(?!), requiring a hard reset. Killing the processes allows a graceful reboot every time. I'm currently running both ssh and rsync as services on the recieving side.
